Moses Lake School District 161, Knolls Vista Elementary – Moses Lake, Washington.
6.50 hours per day / 180 workdays per year. Shift time is subject to building needs.
Para educator Librarian – Knolls Vista Elementary Qualified- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Enrolled college credits: 72 college‑level credits, a college degree, or the ability to pass the Educational Testing Service (ETS) Assessment.
- Previous experience working with students in both individual and small group instructional settings.
- Effective oral and written communication skills.
- Basic computer skills, including Google Suite (Docs, Sheets, Slides), email, typing, and familiarity with library setup, shelving, and the Follett Destiny inventory system.
- Proven record of consistent attendance and punctuality.
- Physical ability to lift up to 50 pounds and bend/stoop for shelving and inventory tasks.
- Elementary school experience preferred.
- Bilingual preferred.
- Meet performance expectations set by the Moses Lake School District Para educator Evaluation.
- Assist students with 1:1 Chromebook issues, including replacing computers/chargers, filing tech tickets, and coordinating tech department support.
- Monitor copy machine, laminator, and paper supply for teacher usage.
- Repair books as needed.
- Catalog, shelve, and check out books; maintain an orderly library environment.
- Proctor district and state testing and assist classroom teachers during assessments.
- Order new books in line with the adopted curriculum.
- Research library resources for student assignments and research projects.
- Use and promote reading programs such as Accelerated Reader or the Lexile system.
- Attend district library meetings and complete ongoing training.
- Maintain accurate data, records, and the district‑assigned email account.
- Supervise students inside and outside the library, adhering to duty schedules and responding to inclement weather situations.
- Encourage positive student interactions, use appropriate interventions for misbehavior, and enforce school and district policies.
- Maintain professional relationships with students, parents, teachers, staff, and the community.
- Exercise good judgment and take responsibility for assignments and outcomes.
- Work independently while solving problems with minimal supervision.
- Read to students aloud as part of literacy support.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Criminal history clearance through the Washington State Patrol and FBI.
- Within the first year of employment, complete the Washington State Fundamental Course of Study for Paraeducators as defined in RCW 28A.413.070 and continue to meet future state requirements.
