Outreach Coordinator

Big Bend Community College, a rural college serving vibrant, culturally rich communities in the Columbia Basin of Central Washington, invites applications for an Outreach Coordinator in the college's Outreach Department. The position is a full-time, overtime eligible and is funded through a combination of grants and contracts.

The Outreach Coordinator works with other Big Bend Community College (BBCC) staff to lead the development and implementation of outreach activities across the entire BBCC service district. The successful candidate will be able to adapt to a rapidly changing environment and will be prepared to support their work by maintaining a flexible schedule to include the potential for evening and weekend events as well as travel throughout the service district.

The Outreach Coordinator has extensive involvement with BBCC faculty, staff, students, parents, the public, and school district personnel to support the operation of BBCC programs.

Job Duties

PRIMARY JOB DUTIES:

  • In collaboration with other campus departments and the Dean of Student Services, identify departmental and program outreach needs.
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate a culturally responsive student outreach program, with particular attention to communities of color, students with disabilities, and low-income communities.
  • Serve participants and students from communities, high schools, and agencies within the college's service district by providing information and individualized support related to college access, financial aid, and career exploration.
  • Provide informational presentations and advising sessions to help participants and families understand educational opportunities available at BBCC and other postsecondary institutions.
  • Explain and guide potential students and their family members through the college and financial aid process, including admission applications, placement, FAFSA/WASFA completion, and new student orientation.
  • Conduct eligibility screenings and determine participant eligibility for student support services; complete and maintain intake forms, income verification, and needs assessments as appropriate.
  • Follow up with participants and others who express interest in learning more about BBCC programs and postsecondary opportunities.
