Department

CO2E Engineering

Twelve is pioneering a new industrial era with carbon transformation. We use electrochemistry to turn CO2 into critical products—fuels, chemicals, and materials that today rely on fossil fuels. Our mission: to fundamentally change how the world makes its essential goods by transforming CO2 from a liability into a resource, building resilient, fossil‑free supply chains, and advancing next‑generation industry.

We are seeking a Sr. Principal Electrical Design Engineer to join our Plant Design team. The Plant Design team supports greenfield capital project execution in a technical capacity.

As part of the Plant Design team, you will support projects building process plants using both electrolyzers and other balance of plant equipment to process and convert CO2 into a myriad of value‑added products. You will lead the electrical Plant design from inception to steady operations, partner closely with external parties to execute detailed design and construction, and productization teams to continually improve electrical designs.

What

You Will Do
  • Develop electrical engineering FEL 1-2-3 deliverables and represent Twelve as an owner’s engineer throughout a project lifecycle.

  • Work with other electrical engineers on balance of plant electrical designs for process plant and electrolyzer systems.

  • Interface with adjacent internal disciplines and project functions such as process, controls, instrumentation, mechanical, procurement, and project management.

  • Interface with external EPCs, suppliers and manufacturers, construction contractors, OEMs, distributors, consultants, and other subject matter experts.

  • Ensure plants are designed and built to appropriate standards, with appropriate consideration given to reliability, maintainability, constructability, operability, and safety.

  • Collaborate with business development to continually integrate improvements to Twelve’s core technology.

  • Review and approve electrical drawings, equipment data sheets and requisition packages, Engineering and Construction Work Packages, Material Take‑Offs/ Estimations, FAT/SAT plans, commissioning plans, and startup activities, etc.

  • Manage or guide 3rd party electrical engineering interfaces.

  • Execute or guide electrical studies.

  • Provide technical support to on‑site construction teams and assist with plant commissioning and start‑up activities.

  • Support operational issues as needed.

Who You Are
  • Willing to temporarily relocate to Moses Lake, WA until co-location with the EPC contractor—Location TBD and the eventual deployment to where the commercial Plant is going to be built. This position requires a high level of mobility and flexibility.

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Electrical Engineering.

  • 20+ years of experience, preferably in continuous process plants or similar mission‑critical environments.

  • Expert in electrical infrastructure design principles for electrical substations and industrial plant power distribution.

  • Experienced in designing, specifying, procuring, installing, and/or supporting operations and maintenance of power distribution electrical equipment, such as Substations, power converters and rectifiers, distribution/substation transformers, HV/MV/LV switch gear, MCCs, motors, protective relaying & metering, UPS’s, EHT, Passive Fire Protection, Arc Flash, generators, VFDs, e‑Houses, HV/MV substations, and modular E‑Houses, etc.

  • Expertise with area classification including equipment specification and wiring methods.

  • Senior expertise with electrical studies such as load flow, short circuit, motor starting, protective device settings and coordination, arc flash, and harmonic analysis.

  • Extremely knowledgeable in IEEE, API, and other industry specific electrical engineering technical codes and standards.

  • Previous experience working with or for EPCs and Owner’s Organizations on industrial‑scale engineering, construction projects and operating Plants.

  • Hands on experience in vendor packages, medium to large modules including formation of price books, and Suppliers’ Quality Surveillance.

  • Strong design, analytical and financial acumen with experience in driving cost optimization during…
