Job Description
Job Type: Contract 12 Months
Essential Functions:
- Essential duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Witness, inspect, document, and correct daily construction, installation, maintenance, and repair operations performed by District contractors.
- Review quality related contract submittals including drawings, specifications, inspection procedures, inspection and testing plans (ITPs). Provide comments and input to Senior and/or Lead Construction Inspector, project management staff and engineers
- Interpret inspection results providing guidance, recommendations, and corrections to stakeholders based on results of on-site inspection findings; communicate all necessary information in written reports for project management and engineering staff
- Provide input on quality management plans.
- Witness and verify inspections utilizing destructive and non-destructive inspection methods including Die Penetrant, Ultrasonic, Magnetic Particulate, X-ray, and radiographic methods
- Ensure material samples such as concrete, soil and asphalt are within proper tolerances specified in approved engineering documents; witness and verify testing of materials meets approved engineering standards.
- Ensure test reports are compliant with Federal Energy Regulatory Commission requirements for material testing and sampling when applicable.
- Witness and verify installation and testing of electrical components and construction.
- Maintain functional working relationships with contractors, manufacturers, vendors, staff, and suppliers while inspecting all aspects of their processes
- Ensure safety standards are being followed while enforcing contractual standards as directed.
- Understand and adhere to compliance requirements for this position that may include laws, regulations, security guidelines, Grant PUD policies & procedures. Actively participate in all aspects of our safety program, including but not limited to:
- Following all safety policies and procedures;
- Alerting supervisors and coworkers to unsafe or hazardous working conditions;
- Reporting any safety incidents or close calls within 24 hours to your supervisor; and
- Accepting feedback from supervisors and coworkers regarding your own safety performance.
Required Qualifications: (Education and Experience, License, and/or Certification)
- Associates Degree in an engineering field; AND four (4) years of engineering, construction, inspection, construction management or other relevant construction experience or two(2) additional years of experience in lieu of degree, pending the positions held and level of responsibility
- A valid driver's license with no driving restrictions.
Preferred Qualifications: (Education and Experience, License, and/or Certification)
- ACI concrete testing certification.
- ASNT Level II certification for Magnetic Particle, Die Penetrant and Ultra Sonic Inspection methods.
- American Welding Society Certified Welding Inspector (CWI)
- Knowledge of construction and inspection standards and codes
- Journeyman status in a related craft
- Other Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Knowledge of:
- Concepts, principles, theories, and methods surrounding engineering industry standards and best practices; complex testing, inspection, and documentation tools, techniques, and methods; project management tools and techniques; technical competences with an attention toward detail.
