Job Description
Manufacturing Engineer I - OT/MES Onsite, Moses Lake, WA
A hands‑on manufacturing engineering role focused on Operational Technology (OT) and Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) support.
What You’ll Do- Support plant‑floor OT and MES‑related systems used to monitor, control, and improve manufacturing operations.
- Assist with the implementation, configuration, and support of connected manufacturing equipment, operator interfaces, and production data systems.
- Help troubleshoot production issues involving PLCs, HMIs, industrial networks, device communications, and connectivity between equipment and manufacturing applications.
- Work with manufacturing, controls, maintenance, and IT partners to improve uptime, data accuracy, traceability, and process visibility across production lines.
- Participate in the installation and sequencing of machines, workstations, tools, parts, and supplies to optimize production flow and support system integration efforts.
- Assist in maintaining and improving PLC/HMI applications and related OT devices used in manufacturing processes.
- Gather and analyze process and production information—including cycle times, downtime events, quality trends, test results, and system performance—to support continuous improvement and problem solving.
- Support small‑scale projects related to equipment connectivity, production monitoring, manufacturing data collection, error‑proofing, and digital manufacturing improvements.
- Create and maintain documentation such as I/O lists, network layouts, process flow diagrams, work instructions, schematics, and support documentation.
- Collaborate with design, project, manufacturing, and operations teams to resolve engineering‑related production and systems issues.
- Participate in cross‑functional meetings that support safe, efficient, and reliable manufacturing operations.
- Perform other duties as assigned in support of the overall objectives of the position.
- Bachelor’s degree (BS) in engineering or engineering technology from an ABET‑accredited program in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, Manufacturing, Engineering Technology, or a related discipline.
- Basic knowledge of manufacturing processes and industrial automation concepts.
- Basic understanding of PLCs, HMIs, machine safety, and instrumentation, including analog and digital signals.
- Interest in OT systems, MES platforms, manufacturing data, and plant‑floor system integration.
- Strong problem‑solving skills and a willingness to learn in a fast‑paced manufacturing environment.
- Ability to communicate effectively with operators, technicians, engineers, and cross‑functional teams.
- Technical writing skills sufficient to support process documentation, work instructions, test documentation, and system support materials.
- Exposure to PLC programming or troubleshooting (Rockwell RSLogix or Studio 5000).
- Familiarity with HMI platforms or operator interface systems (e.g., C‑More).
- Basic understanding of industrial networking concepts such as Ethernet/IP, Profinet, Modbus‑TCP, managed vs. unmanaged switches, and VLAN fundamentals.
- Exposure to MES, SCADA, historian systems, production reporting tools, or manufacturing data collection platforms.
- Basic knowledge of Python or C# scripting for reporting, data extraction, or process monitoring.
- Exposure to robot integration or vision systems.
- Ability to read electrical schematics, mechanical drawings, blueprints, and equipment documentation.
- Advanced mathematics skills.
- Ability to perform all responsibilities of the position.
Salary range: $80,000 - $90,000, based on education, experience, and certifications. Additional benefits include paid vacation, 401(k), medical, dental, and vision coverage.
