Job Summary

The Sanitation Supervisor is responsible for managing all aspects of sanitation operations within the food processing facility, ensuring the highest standards of cleanliness, hygiene, and food safety are maintained. This role involves developing and implementing comprehensive sanitation strategies, overseeing multiple sanitation teams, and collaborating with other departments to integrate sanitation practices into overall plant operations. The Sanitation Supervisor plays a critical role in maintaining regulatory compliance, optimizing sanitation processes, and contributing to the facility's operational excellence.

Essential Job Functions

  • Develop, implement, and oversee facility-wide sanitation strategies and protocols
  • Manage and mentor a team of Sanitation Leads and Workers, including hiring, training, and performance evaluations
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant food safety regulations, OSHA standards, and company policies
  • Collaborate with Production, Quality Assurance, and Maintenance departments to optimize sanitation schedules and processes
  • Develop and manage the sanitation department budget, including labor and supply costs
  • Implement and oversee a comprehensive sanitation audit program
  • Analyze sanitation metrics and KPIs to drive continuous improvement
  • Lead investigations into sanitation-related issues and implement corrective actions
  • Manage relationships with chemical suppliers and sanitation equipment vendors
  • Develop and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) for all sanitation activities
  • Represent the sanitation department in management meetings and regulatory inspections
  • Stay informed about industry best practices and emerging sanitation technologies
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in food processing sanitation, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role
  • In-depth knowledge of food safety regulations and sanitation best practices
  • Strong leadership and team management skills
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical abilities
  • Proficiency in data analysis and reporting
  • Experience with sanitation management software and CMMS systems

Preferred Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Certification in food safety or sanitation management
  • Experience with automated cleaning systems and advanced sanitation technologies
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish

This position involves a mix of office work and hands-on involvement in the production environment. The Sanitation Supervisor must be comfortable moving between different areas of the facility, including processing floors, chemical storage areas, and administrative offices. The role may require working non-standard hours to oversee sanitation activities during off-production times. Some travel may be necessary for training or to oversee sanitation at multiple facilities.

The position requires the ability to wear personal protective equipment and work in various environmental conditions, including extreme temperatures and wet environments.
