Clinic Registered Nurse (RN) functions within nursing scope under direction and supervision of the Provider (physician, PA or ARNP) and is responsible for assisting in providing care and implementing delegated activities of care. A current understanding of contemporary nursing principles and skills must be demonstrated, unique to their clinical assignment. This is a full‑time position working Monday‑Friday between the hours of 07:30am‑5:30pm.

Up to $15,000 sign‑on bonus, subject to a two‑year Hospital Sign‑On Bonus Agreement (External candidates only).

Essential Functions
  • Maintains and reviews patient records, charts and other pertinent information; interviews patients, documents chief complaints, measures vital signs and records information accurately in Electronic Medical Records (EMR).
  • Establishes priorities in organizing daily activities, effectively manages patient flow and anticipates special equipment, solutions and miscellaneous supplies needed for various procedures.
  • Triages patients to the level of care necessary to provide quality patient care based on triage protocols and consultation with Providers.
  • Assists/Initiates BLS measures.
  • Instructs patients in collection of samples and tests.
  • Handles procedure specimens correctly per Provider orders, including identification, labeling, dating and disposition.
  • Communicates test results and instructions to patients per practice protocol.
  • Acts as a clinical resource by providing staff and patient education.
  • Educates patients and caregivers about diagnostic procedures, medications, chronic disease management and treatment instructions (e.g., diabetes, AIDS, immunizations).
  • Executes orders approved by supervising Providers.
  • Assists Providers by preparing patients and equipment for examinations and procedures, and by assisting during procedures and treatments.
  • Assesses surgical and acute wounds to aid Provider treatment.
  • Applies splints, slings, cast boots, braces, etc.; measures for knee braces and other appliances.
  • Starts and monitors IV as directed.
  • Ensures proper inventorying and ordering of medical supplies and maintenance of emergency equipment.
  • Assists with medication management; accurately requests prescription authorizations and orders refill requests as authorized by Provider and/or practice policy.
  • Understands surgical inpatient procedures and care.
  • Performs the following non‑face‑to‑face services:
    • Referral management
    • Communication of test results
    • Development and updating of Care Plans
    • Medication management
    • Assistance with community resource connections and communication
    • Patient education and communication
    • Assists with documentation in required platforms beyond EMR
  • Acts as a resource for patient care and ensures patients are scheduled with the most suitable Provider.
  • Maintains confidentiality of all information related to patients, staff, and employees.
  • Has knowledge of diagnoses, billing, and procedures.
  • Engages in professional growth through seminars, workshops and affiliations to stay current with field trends.
  • Follows safe work practices and policies to prevent injuries, including security, MSDS understanding, infection control, fire, disaster, and body mechanics.
  • Complies with organizational policies, procedures and labor agreements.
  • Interfaces with team members and support groups courteously and efficiently, reflecting organizational values.
  • Presents professionally, meeting appearance standards necessary for the role.
  • Handles additional accountabilities as required by management.
Work Environment

The RN reports to the Director of Operations with clinical oversight from the Clinic Care Director. The role collaborates closely with all Samaritan Clinic Departments and may be assigned primarily to a medical specialty department or requested to work in others such as Pediatrics, Orthopedics, Family Medicine, OB/Women’s Health, Urgent Care, Podiatry, and additional departments.

Education & Experience
  • Education:

    Graduate of an accredited registered nurse program. BSN preferred.
  • License:
    Current Washington state Registered Nurse license.
  • Experience:

    Preferably experience working in a clinic setting supporting providers across various specialties.
