Job Summary
The Compliance Specialist ensures all social responsibility programs are implemented at the site level, including biosecurity, food safety and quality, animal health and welfare, and environmental programs. This role collaborates closely with site management, personnel, flock services, and the compliance team. The Specialist is responsible for understanding and assisting operations in upholding our social responsibility as it pertains to various regulations and standards, including the FDA Egg Rule, SQFI, HACCP, state regulatory bodies, NPIP, UEP, AHC, and customer requirements.
The specialist helps coordinate and ensure that activities carried out at the sites are in line with and follow our food safety, biosecurity, welfare, and various compliance protocol to ensure the safety and well-being of our flocks and egg products alike.
Essential Job Functions
- Assist in developing and implementing compliance and social responsibility programs as they pertain to applicable regulations and/or standards, including, but not limited to those from FDA, DNR, NPIP, UEP, AHC and customers
- Ensure compliance to product safety and quality parameters with regards to company standards, customer requirements, GMP's, HACCP, USDA, FDA, and other regulations as applicable
- Implement and verify the SQF program Train personnel and enforce food safety standards
- Audit processes, procedures, and records related to food safety and HACCP
- Collaborate with operations teams to ensure proper execution of compliance programs
- Monitor and track bird movements and flock testing activities
- Conduct routine site visits and internal audits
- Conducts and/or coordinates internal audits of site compliance with programs
- Initiates, tracks, and trends corrective actions from internal audits
- Coordinates and prepares the corrective action follow up for customer, regulatory and third-party inspections of the farms.
- Monitors the progress of the corrective actions for all audit deficiencies.
- Coordinate and prepare for external audits
- Handle and submit program-related reports
- Develop and coordinate employee training programs
- Maintain records in accordance with document control program
- Work with compliance management to improve programs continuously
- Other duties as assigned
- Bachelor's degree in a related field
- 2+ years of experience with compliance monitoring and program implementation
- Knowledge of poultry industry and relevant state and federal regulations
- Ability to obtain necessary licenses/certifications
- Strong communication and computer skills
- Able to work in various climate conditions and physical environments
- Master's degree in a related field
- Bilingual in English and Spanish
- Professional certification in compliance or data analytics
This position is usually based out of a farm site. 60-70% of the role involves onsite activities, with the remaining 30-40% dedicated to office/computer work. This role is crucial in coordinating and ensuring that site activities align with our food safety, biosecurity, welfare, and compliance protocols, safeguarding the well-being of our flocks and egg products. The work environment is dynamic, requiring the ability to manage multiple on-site projects while adapting to changing regulatory landscapes.
Some evening or weekend work may be necessary during critical periods or compliance reporting deadlines. The role may occasionally travel to other company locations for assessments or training.
