Job Description & How to Apply Below

This role is for an experienced Quality Inspector to support ongoing turbine generator rehabilitation and plant construction activities. This role serves as an embedded field resource during off-hours operations, acting as the on-site “eyes and ears” for Engineering, Project Services, and Inspection teams to ensure work is executed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with approved work packages, quality standards, and project specifications.

This position is intended to supplement the existing inspection team during continuous operations, outage activities, high-workload periods, and extended field machining operations. The role may initially focus on targeted second-shift or weekend coverage but could evolve into a longer-term night shift assignment supporting generator rehabilitation projects lasting 13–16 months.

Unlike a traditional passive inspection role, this position requires a hands-on field presence with active coordination between contractors, foremen, engineering, and plant personnel. The inspector will be expected to influence work execution in real time, hold contractors accountable to specifications and approved work packages, and provide structured communication between shifts and stakeholders.

The ideal candidate brings a broad industrial inspection background with experience across mechanical systems, electrical systems, and controls/instrumentation within power generation, hydroelectric, utility, heavy industrial, or similar environments.

Key Responsibilities Pre-Shift Planning & Daily Coordination
  • Review prior shift reports, foreman reports, night shift documentation, and inspection notes before field activities begin
  • Review shift plans, critical path schedules, priorities, and active work packages to establish daily inspection focus
  • Prepare inspection plans and daily priorities based on project milestones, operational risk, and ongoing field activities
  • Verify contractor readiness, material availability, permits, documentation, and field conditions before work execution
  • Participate in coordination meetings and daily stand-up meetings with Engineering, Contract Labor, Project Services, and field leadership
Field Oversight & Contractor Coordination
  • Provide active field oversight during night shift, weekend, and off-hours operations
  • Work directly with foremen and field crews to confirm:
  • Scope of work
  • Daily priorities
  • Readiness to proceed
  • Crew understanding and skill alignment
  • Ensure work is executed in accordance with:
  • Approved work packages
  • Engineering drawings and specifications
  • Quality standards
  • Safety requirements
  • Labor and construction requirements
  • Hold contractors accountable to specifications and project expectations during execution
  • Identify deviations, deficiencies, quality concerns, or procedural non-conformance issues in real time and elevate appropriately
  • Serve as an embedded field representative for inspection and engineering teams during off-hours operations
Inspection & Quality Assurance
  • Observe and document construction, machining, installation, repair, testing, and rehabilitation activities related to turbine generator projects and plant systems
  • Verify workmanship, procedures, tolerances, and installation practices align with approved project requirements
  • Continue work package review and validate field execution against approved scope throughout the shift
  • Support overall QA/QC and compliance objectives for rehabilitation and modernization projects
  • Assist in maintaining continuous inspection coverage during 24/7 operations and outage schedules
Reporting, Closeout & Shift Turnover
  • Close out completed work packages and inspection activities
  • Review field data, inspection records, IR documentation, and photos for completeness and accuracy
  • Document work progress, contractor performance, quality concerns, and field observations
  • Provide structured feedback and reporting back to Engineering, Project Services, inspectors, and incoming shifts
  • Write detailed daily inspection reports and tie-in activity summaries
  • Support issue tracking, resolution follow-up, and continuity between day and night operations
  • Participate in shift turnover discussions and communicate emerging risks, unresolved concerns, and…
