EHS Sr Specialist

Responsibilities for this position include outlining and implementing policies or programs to educate and promote employee health and safety or environmental compliance. Delivering training programs educating staff on environmental concerns or health and safety risks found in the organization. Communicating regularly with management and administration regarding the status of environmental initiatives. Ensuring that training records, health/safety manuals or handbooks, incident/accident reports, or other documentation are appropriately maintained.

Tracking and documenting accidents to understand causes and recommend changes to prevent future accidents. Monitoring known health, safety, or environmental hazards, such as noise, air, or wastewater pollution levels. Coordinating inspection of facilities, vehicles, or equipment and processes recommending corrections or additional precautions to ensure compliance to established regulations. Communicating facility-specific emergency response or evacuation plans. Having a broad and current knowledge of all government and applicable industry safety regulations.

Essential functions include:

Required Qualifications
  • Required education and experience: Associate's Degree and 5-7 years' experience OR Equivalent Combination of Relevant Education &/or Experience
  • Critical professional related technical skills; computer skills: Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
Preferred Qualifications
  • Preferred education and experience: Bachelor's Degree
  • Discipline/Major: Environmental Health and Safety or related discipline preferred
  • Knowledge, skills & abilities: Safety best practices. Safety communications. Safety inspections. Safety investigations. Safety policies and procedures. Safety training. Inspection documentation.
Physical Requirements
  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position at a desk and/or computer for extended periods of time.
  • Requires regular movement throughout GD-OTS facilities.
  • Work primarily in a climate-controlled environment with minimal safety/health hazard potential.
Pay Range (USD)

$88,850 - $120,200

The salary range displayed reflects the minimum and maximum for salary for this position. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, internal equity, and relevant education or training. Your recruiter can share more about the range during the hiring process.
