Lead A & P Mechanic

Summary

Description:

AC & Test Site Ops Department provides operational and facility requirements to support Fabrication, Aircraft Maintenance, Quality, Flight Test Instrumentation Installation & removal, and site safety (EH&S/SMS). The AC & Test Site Ops Division is responsible for providing resources and facilities for aircraft maintenance, quality, manufacturing, instrumentation installation and equipment to support customer requirements.

The A & P Mechanic position is responsible for servicing, repairing, and troubleshooting aircraft and aircraft engines. This includes replacing and rebuilding aircraft structures and systems as well as assembling and installing electrical, plumbing, mechanical, hydraulic, structural components and accessories. A & P Mechanic must understand FAA (Federal Aviation Administration) regulations and technical data relevant to assigned projects.

Job Duties and Responsibilities (Essential Functions)
  • Perform inspections, maintenance, and modifications on Gulfstream V aircraft
  • Support heavy check events, including 96-month / 144-month inspections
  • Conduct engine runs as qualified
  • Ensure work is performed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with FAA regulations
Requirements
  • Valid FAA Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) Certificate
  • Gulfstream V (GV) trained
  • Minimum 10 years’ experience on GV type in a mechanic or lead capacity
  • Proven experience performing 96-month / 144-month heavy inspections on GV aircraft
  • Engine run qualified on GV type
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Must be a U.S. person or U.S. citizen
  • Service, repair, troubleshoot and overhaul aircraft and aircraft engines.
  • Repair, replace and rebuild aircraft structures, system and functional components.
  • Assemble and install electrical, plumbing, mechanical, hydraulic, structural components and accessories using hand tools and power tools.
  • Adjust, align and calibrate aircraft systems using hand tools, gauges and test equipment, machines and equipment such as shears, sheet metal brakes, welding equipment, rivet gun and drills.
  • Research and understand FAA technical data relevant to assigned tasks.
  • Maintain the premises and the repair station in a clean and organized manner.
  • Remove and/or install aircraft components, test IAW MM, and troubleshoot aircraft systems.
  • Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
    • Strong knowledge in FAA regulations, Aviation Rules (FOD, Safety, Quality, hazardous materials, Aircraft Marshalling), aerodynamics, aircraft electrical systems, materials science, aircraft maintenance, electrical testing, instrumentation, gas turbine and piston power plants.
    • Good leadership (individual contributor) presence; able to lead by example and live/work by company values.
    • Ability to contribute to a positive and productive work environment and instill a sense of urgency in team members.
    • Patient and objective in difficult situations with different types of people.

    Level Requirements (Minimum) Education
    • Associate’s Degree (or Technical School equivalent) in Aircraft Maintenance or related field from an FAA accredited school or equivalent experience.
    • A&P License required.
    • Must purchase or own tools required to perform job duties.
    Experience
