MAINTENANCE ELECTRICIAN POSITION IN ORGANIZATION

Department: Production Engineering
Reports To: Production Engineering Supervisor or Manager
Supervisory Responsibilities: None
Work Schedule: Four (4) 10-hour shifts per week, 6:00 a.m.

- 4:30 p.m.

The Maintenance Electrician works with limited supervision and is responsible for supporting the safe and reliable operation of Chemi-Con Materials Corporation equipment, machinery, switch gear, and electrical systems.

JOB SUMMARY

The Maintenance Electrician is responsible for maintaining, repairing, installing, monitoring, and troubleshooting industrial electrical systems, switch gear, plant equipment, and machinery.

A significant responsibility of this position involves working with electrical distribution equipment and switch gear, including systems operating up to 13.8 kV. The successful candidate must demonstrate the knowledge, experience, and ability necessary to safely troubleshoot, maintain, and service industrial switch gear and associated electrical systems in accordance with company procedures and applicable safety requirements.

This position also performs mechanical maintenance as necessary and is expected to independently diagnose equipment and system problems with limited supervision.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Essential duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Maintain, repair, install, inspect, test, and troubleshoot industrial electrical equipment and systems with minimal supervision.
  • Troubleshoot, maintain, and service plant switch gear and electrical distribution systems, including systems operating up to 13.8 kV, within the employee’s training and authorization.
  • Demonstrate the ability to safely identify, diagnose, and respond to switch gear and electrical distribution system problems.
  • Maintain, repair, install, and troubleshoot transformers, rectifiers, motors, controls, disconnects, electrical panels, and associated electrical equipment.
  • Safely perform required electrical isolation and Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures involving switch gear, transformers, rectifiers, machinery, and associated systems.
  • Verify appropriate isolation and zero-energy conditions before performing work as required by company procedures.
  • Maintain, repair, install, inspect, and troubleshoot mechanical equipment and machinery as required.
  • Diagnose equipment failures and determine appropriate corrective actions to minimize equipment downtime.
  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on plant machinery and electrical systems.
  • Read and interpret electrical schematics, one-line diagrams, wiring diagrams, equipment manuals, and other technical documentation.
  • Assist the Production Engineering Supervisor or Manager with troubleshooting and resolving complex electrical, mechanical, and equipment problems.
  • Assist with training maintenance personnel as directed by the Production Engineering Supervisor or Manager.
  • Develop and maintain a thorough working knowledge of plant equipment and systems throughout Chemi-Con Materials Corporation.
  • Follow all electrical safety, Lockout/Tagout, PPE, confined-space, and other applicable company safety procedures.
  • Communicate equipment conditions, completed repairs, outstanding issues, and safety concerns to appropriate personnel.
  • Respond to equipment breakdowns and emergency maintenance needs in a timely manner.
  • Participate in the department’s periodic one-week on-call rotation.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by management.
