The Opportunity:

Under the direction of the Regional Meeting Program Administrator, this position will facilitate Youth and Family Meetings primarily for the Moses Lake office, while also providing back-up Youth and Family Meeting facilitation for other offices throughout Region 1.

Some of what you will get to do:

  • Facilitate meetings for families and other participants within policy timelines to ensure permanency is reached and to make safe and least restrictive placement decisions for children.
  • Lead regional professional social services staff engaged in activities associated with the strength-based identified model, including the identified model meeting process.
  • Track, schedule, and facilitate permanency planning meetings.
  • Identify safety threats, strengths, needs, protective factors, and conditions for return home in behavioral terms at meetings.
  • Draft and analyze proposed action plans for the safe placement of children.
  • Provide consultation, guidance, and training on family meeting practices and principles.
  • Complete thorough and timely data collection for individual and regional program reporting.
  • Network and develop relationships with community partners to support caregivers and families who work with DCYF.

Required Qualifications:

Equivalent education and experience totaling nine years in planning, administering, developing, or delivering social, financial, health, or chemical dependency treatment services programs. OR One year of experience as a Social and Health Program Consultant 3 or equivalent, OR Two years of experience as a Social and Health Program Consultant 2 or equivalent, OR A Bachelor's degree in social work, a health or social science, public administration or a related field;

and five years of professional experience in planning, administering, developing, or delivering social, financial, health, or chemical dependency treatment services programs, OR A Master's degree or higher in social work, a health or social science, public administration or a related field, and four years of professional experience in planning, administering, developing, or delivering social, financial, health, or chemical dependency treatment services programs, AND The ability to take action to learn and grow.

The ability to take action to meet the needs of others.

In addition to those required qualifications, our ideal applicant will also have some or all of the following:

  • Previous demonstrated extensive knowledge of federal and state child welfare laws and regulations.
  • Previous demonstrated working understanding of safety and risk assessment, family preservation, principles of family-centered and child-focused practice, and strategies for family engagement.
  • Previously demonstrated expertise in building relationships with clients, staff, and community leaders.
  • Previous background in child welfare permanency planning.
  • Working knowledge of Indian Child Welfare.
  • Previously demonstrated knowledge of the dependency court system and process.
  • Previously demonstrated experience using Microsoft Excel program, FAMLINK, and other data systems to gather information.
  • Previously demonstrated ability to actively engage with parents, providers, community partners, and tribes' families, including extended family members.
  • Previously demonstrated ability to understand DCYF Child Welfare programs and policies, and can provide accurate information to staff, community, and external partners.
  • Previously demonstrated training and mentorship/coaching skills and can train on the program.
