Job Duties & Responsibilities
This position is responsible for daily planning, developing detailed work plans, and prioritizing work activities. This position will provide direct support to maintenance, operations and/or fuel handling crew(s) by providing planning, estimating and coordination of maintenance activities on plant equipment. The Planner will provide backup to other Planners and Contractor Support Specialists as workloads require, dictate and provide coordination support during outages.
This position will also include some System Owner responsibilities.
- Administering the work order management system through processing of prioritized work orders, updating equipment records, and maintaining equipment historical database (including bill of materials, equipment procedures, etc).
- Developing and maintaining the Plant's Four (4) Week Plan by scheduling all mechanical, electrical or operations maintenance activities for all departments by utilizing and reporting trends and metrics.
- Enhancing work productivity by providing detailed work plans and work packages, coordinating materials ordering and staging, and providing effective communication between maintenance groups and Planning & Scheduling.
- Developing outage work packages and plans for Planned, Forced and Maintenance outages and utilizing Critical Path Method (CPM) schedules when appropriate.
- Providing coordination during outages and for other on-site and off-site contract labor needs (i.e. equipment rebuilds and parts refurbishment), seeking out and recommending the most cost‑effective solutions.
- Actively supporting Plant Reliability through the role of a System Owner, or in support thereof, and supporting the Maintenance Strategy program through improved revisions of equipment repetitive tasks.
- Optimizing spare parts, material and equipment stocking levels and inventories.
- Providing planning activities that fully meet or exceed the expectation as listed in the Southern Generation Playbook.
- The successful candidate must have extensive experience in maintenance or operations in fossil generation.
- Experience in plant operations (Operations, Maintenance or Fuels) is preferred.
- Knowledge/Experience working with Maximo and Microsoft Office is preferred.
- Experience interfacing with vendors and contractors preferred.
- Experience in both Coal and Combined Cycle Units is preferred.
- Experience with CIMs is preferred.
- Must be knowledgeable of contract administration.
- Strong organizational, administrative, facilitation and interpersonal skills are required.
- Knowledge and experience with personal computers and the ability to learn quickly, numerous software applications for work order management and planning/scheduling is a necessity.
- The ability to communicate and work effectively in teams with varied individuals (craft personnel, supervisory, staff and management) is a must.
