We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Designer II – P& with 5–10 years of experience in industrial process environments. This role is responsible for creating, updating, and maintaining Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs) that accurately represent piping systems, equipment, instrumentation, and control systems.
The ideal candidate will work closely with engineering teams to ensure safe, compliant, and efficient system designs while maintaining high standards of documentation accuracy and quality control.
Key Responsibilities P&t- Create and update P&IDs using industry-standard software (AutoCAD or equivalent)
- Accurately represent piping layouts, process flow, equipment, instrumentation, and control loops
- Maintain asset naming and numbering conventions
- Work closely with mechanical, process, and project engineers
- Interpret design requirements and ensure P&IDs meet engineering specifications
- Communicate design concepts and updates to project stakeholders
- Generate detailed P& including:
- Equipment symbols
- Instrumentation details
- Piping layouts
- Control loops
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations, industry standards, and project requirements
- Collaborate on selection of piping materials, valves, instruments, and related components
- Support design decisions based on operational and process requirements
- Track and document P&
- Manage change updates and notify stakeholders accordingly
- Review and validate P&IDs for accuracy, completeness, and alignment with project goals
- Perform field walkdowns to verify accuracy of CAD drawings
- Develop as-built P&IDs reflecting actual system configurations after construction or modifications
- Conduct QC checks to ensure alignment between field conditions and design documentation
- Provide guidance and training to junior designers and drafters
- Support team development in P& practices
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Design, or related field
- 5–10 years of mechanical design experience with a strong focus on P&t
- Proficiency in AutoCAD (or equivalent P&)
- In-depth understanding of industrial processes, equipment, and instrumentation
- Knowledge of applicable safety regulations and industry standards
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication and collaboration abilities
- High attention to detail and commitment to producing accurate, high-quality documentation
- Experience in manufacturing, power generation, chemical processing, oil & gas, or heavy industrial environments
- Experience conducting field walkdowns and redline updates.
