Reports to:

School Principal

Choir Director - Moss Point High School Choir Director Responsibilities
  • Instruct choir members to warm up before rehearsals and performances.
  • Decide on appropriate musical pieces for the choir to perform based on the venue and occasion.
  • Establish and enforce a performance dress code in accordance with established guidelines.
  • Conduct auditions to identify and select suitable choir members.
  • Schedule choir rehearsals and ensure that choir members attend rehearsals regularly.
  • Select individual choir members to perform solos.
  • Provide the necessary guidance and direction during choir rehearsals to assist choir members in achieving the correct tone, pitch, rhythm, tempo, and harmony.
  • Direct choir members during musical performances to ensure that the desired sound is achieved.
  • Create suitable choir formations for rehearsals and performances.
Choir Director Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in music, music education, or related field is preferred.
  • Proven experience working as a choir director.
  • Sound musical knowledge.
  • The ability to interpret various styles of music.
  • Strong leadership and listening skills.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • A passion for music.
  • Patient, creative, and assertive.

Personnel reporting to this position:
None.

Terms of employment: 187 Days.

Salary for this position shall be commensurate with the years of experience as determined under the policies and procedures of the Moss Point School District and pay scale.

Performance of this job will be evaluated annually in accordance with provisions of the Board of Trustees' policy on evaluation of District personnel.
