Position

Tank Car Repairman – MSE Railcar Services LLC, Moss Point, MS

Overview

MSE Railcar Services is recruiting a highly qualified, experienced candidate for the position of Tank Car Repairman. The role involves general repairs to tank cars, tank car service equipment, welding tank cars, jackets, and attachments.

Job Responsibilities
  • Comply with the Company’s Quality Assurance Program by following quality processes and procedures
  • Work with the AAR Office and Field Manual to execute repairs and inspections
  • Inspect tank cars and complete billing repair cards to meet quality assurance standards
  • Use a variety of tools and equipment including pneumatic and hydraulic tools, grinders, jacks, welders, cutting torches, cranes and forklifts
  • Pass a weld test administered by a Certified Welding Inspector in accordance with an approved procedure
  • Implement proper safety precautions during all repair operations on or in tank cars
  • Interpret tank car drawings for proper repairs
  • Teach and share knowledge with colleagues to improve team performance
  • Interpret work orders to perform required repairs and work with a team to complete repairs safely and efficiently
Technical Skills & Other Requirements
  • 5+ years of tank car repair experience
  • Certifications in Non-Destructive Testing disciplines preferred
  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Basic computer skills
  • Ability to work independently, efficiently, and safely
  • Read and understand written instruction and retain oral instruction
  • Communicate clearly and effectively
  • Document work activities for time accountability purposes
  • Pass pre-employment drug, physical, vision and hearing tests; subject to random drug testing
  • Background check required
  • Valid Driver’s License
Working Conditions
  • Physical ability to work in confined spaces and at heights
  • Work both indoors and outdoors in heat/cool, wet/humid, dry/arid and dusty conditions
  • Use personal protective equipment as required by environmental conditions
  • 24/7 operation; may need to respond to unexpected or emergency situations
  • Lift up to 60 lbs.
