About the Role
Our client is seeking a proactive and knowledgeable Environmental Scientist to support their operations in Mossel Bay . This role involves ensuring compliance with environmental regulations, managing environmental impact assessments, and implementing sustainable practices within the mining sector . The position offers a hybrid work arrangement , allowing for a balance between field assessments and office-based analysis and reporting. You will play a crucial role in minimizing the environmental footprint of projects, promoting responsible resource management, and contributing to the company's sustainability goals.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct Environmental Impact Assessments (EIAs) and related studies for mining projects.
- Develop and implement Environmental Management Plans (EMPs) to ensure regulatory compliance.
- Monitor environmental parameters, including water quality, air quality, and biodiversity, and analyze results.
- Identify potential environmental risks and develop mitigation strategies.
- Liaise with regulatory authorities, stakeholders, and community representatives on environmental matters.
- Prepare comprehensive environmental reports, permits, and documentation.
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Ecology, Geology, or a related field.
- Minimum of 4 years of experience in environmental management, preferably within the mining or industrial sectors.
- Thorough understanding of South African environmental legislation and permitting processes.
- Experience with environmental monitoring techniques and data analysis.
- Proficiency in report writing and presentation of environmental information.
- Ability to conduct field assessments and work effectively in a hybrid environment.
