Aviation Ground Equipment; GSE) Mechanic

Our client is seeking a skilled Aviation Ground Support Equipment (GSE) Mechanic to maintain and repair their essential fleet of ground equipment in Mossel Bay. This role is crucial for ensuring the seamless and safe operation of airport ground services, including baggage handling equipment, aircraft tugs, de-icing units, and power units. The ideal candidate will have a strong mechanical aptitude, experience with heavy equipment maintenance, and a commitment to safety and operational efficiency.

You will be responsible for routine maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs to keep the GSE fleet in optimal working condition, directly impacting flight schedule reliability.

• Perform scheduled preventive maintenance, inspections, and lubrication on various types of Ground Support Equipment (GSE).
• Diagnose and repair mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical issues on GSE fleet, including engines, transmissions, and control systems.
• Respond to urgent repair requests to minimize equipment downtime and ensure operational readiness.
• Maintain accurate maintenance logs and repair records for all GSE serviced.
• Ensure all equipment is operated and maintained in compliance with safety regulations and company procedures.
• Operate a variety of tools and diagnostic equipment effectively.

• Proven experience as a Mechanic, with a focus on heavy equipment, diesel engines, or automotive mechanics.
• Experience with Aviation Ground Support Equipment is highly preferred.
• Strong diagnostic skills and proficiency in troubleshooting mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems.
• Ability to read and interpret service manuals and technical specifications.
• Possession of a valid driver's license; forklift certification is a plus.
• Physical ability to lift heavy components and work in various weather conditions.
