Fiber Optic Installation Technician

Our client is seeking a skilled Fiber Optic Installation Technician to join their team in Mossel Bay . This essential role involves the installation, splicing, testing, and maintenance of fiber optic networks throughout the region. You will be responsible for ensuring the integrity and performance of fiber optic infrastructure, working both indoors and outdoors in various conditions. The ideal candidate possesses excellent technical skills, a keen eye for detail, and a commitment to providing reliable fiber optic services to residential and business customers in the Western Cape .

• Install fiber optic cables, conduits, and related hardware in residential and commercial environments.
• Perform fiber optic splicing using fusion splicers and testing using OTDR and optical power meters.
• Diagnose and repair faults in fiber optic networks, ensuring minimal downtime.
• Read and interpret network maps, blueprints, and technical specifications.
• Maintain accurate records of installations, repairs, and testing results.

• High school diploma or equivalent; relevant trade certification is highly desirable.
• Minimum of 2 years of hands-on experience in fiber optic cable installation and maintenance.
• Proficiency with fiber optic splicing and testing equipment (fusion splicer, OTDR, power meter).
• Understanding of fiber optic network principles and standards.
• Ability to work at heights, in confined spaces, and in various weather conditions.
