Electrical Installation & Commissioning Engineer

Our client, a leading provider of industrial solutions and infrastructure development, is looking for a meticulous Electrical Installation & Commissioning Engineer to join their team in Mossel Bay, Western Cape . This role is crucial for ensuring the successful deployment and operational readiness of electrical systems across various projects. You will be responsible for overseeing the installation process, performing rigorous testing, and commissioning electrical equipment and systems to meet stringent quality and safety standards.

This hybrid role allows for essential site visits and hands-on work combined with planning and documentation from a remote or office setting, providing a balanced approach to project execution in the beautiful Mossel Bay, Western Cape region.

• Plan, supervise, and execute the installation of electrical systems, including power distribution, control panels, and instrumentation.
• Develop and implement detailed commissioning plans and test procedures.
• Conduct pre-commissioning checks, functional tests, and performance verification of electrical equipment and systems.
• Troubleshoot and resolve any installation or commissioning issues, ensuring minimal downtime.
• Work closely with project managers, site supervisors, and technicians to coordinate installation and commissioning activities.
• Ensure all installations and commissioning activities comply with project specifications, engineering drawings, and relevant safety regulations.
• Prepare comprehensive commissioning reports, including test results, deviations, and final handover documentation.
• Train site personnel on the operation and maintenance of newly installed electrical systems.
• Collaborate with engineering and design teams to provide feedback on design improvements based on installation and commissioning experiences.
• Maintain accurate records of all installation and commissioning activities.

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related technical qualification.
• Minimum of 4-6 years of experience in electrical installation, commissioning, and field service.
• Strong understanding of electrical systems, power electronics, control systems, and automation technologies.
• Proficiency in reading and interpreting electrical schematics, P&IDs, and technical specifications.
• Experience with testing equipment and diagnostic tools for electrical systems.
• Knowledge of safety procedures and regulations related to electrical installations (e.g., Lockout/Tagout).
• Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills with a practical, hands‑on approach.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills to effectively coordinate with site teams and stakeholders.
• Willingness to travel to project sites as required and work in a hybrid capacity within the Mossel Bay, Western Cape area.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet project deadlines.
