• Installation, testing, and commissioning of fiber optic cables and associated equipment.
• Performing routine maintenance and inspections of the optical network infrastructure.
• Troubleshooting and diagnosing faults in fiber optic lines and equipment, ensuring timely resolution.
• Using specialized tools such as OTDRs, fusion splicers, and optical power meters for testing and repair.
• Conducting site surveys and preparing installation plans.
• Adhering strictly to safety protocols and company procedures during all field operations.
• Documenting all installation, maintenance, and repair activities accurately.
• Collaborating with project managers and other technical staff to ensure project timelines are met.
• Responding to network outage incidents and performing emergency repairs.
• Maintaining an inventory of tools, equipment, and materials.

• Technical qualification or certification in Fiber Optics, Telecommunications, or a related field is preferred.
• Proven experience as an Optical Network Technician or in a similar fiber optic installation/maintenance role.
• Proficiency in using fiber optic testing equipment (OTDR, optical power meters, VFL, fusion splicer).
• Solid understanding of fiber optic splicing techniques and cable management.
• Ability to read and interpret network diagrams, blueprints, and technical specifications.
• Strong knowledge of telecommunications network principles and standards.
• Excellent manual dexterity and ability to work at heights or in confined spaces when required.
• Valid driver's license and a clean driving record.
• Good problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure.
• Physical fitness and ability to perform demanding tasks in outdoor environments in the
  ** Western Cape**.
