Title:
Career Technical Teacher Immediate Supervisor:
School Principal
Minimum Qualifications:
- B.S. Degree from accredited college or university
- OR for Technical Areas
- Completed a minimum of seven years full time work experience (14,000 clock hours) within the past ten years in the technical area to be taught and graduated from high school or equivalent
- Graduated from an approved postsecondary program in the technical area to be taught and has three years of full time work experience (6,000 clock hours) within the past seven years in the technical area to be taught
- Alabama Certification in teaching area
- Highly Qualified Status
Skills and Abilities:
- Maintains competency in content knowledge including concepts, facts, skills, and tools of inquiry
- Provides learning experiences that make the subject matter meaningful and relevant for all students
- Possesses understanding of all learning styles and differentiated instruction strategies
- Develops and uses research-based instructional and assessment strategies
- Motivates, engages, and maximizes student learning
- Practices knowledge and use of oral and written communication
- Recognizes and improves the essential role of the family and community in the education of students
- Recognizes, appreciates, and employs cultural, ethnic, and social differences in students
Essential Functions:
- Follows all standards, guidelines and data reporting as outlined in the Alabama Career Technical Education - Business Industry Certification
- Reads, speaks, and understands at professional level
- Organizes and effectively manages all classroom reports and communications
- Develops and implements appropriate lesson plans
- Engages in continuous professional development that enhances personal knowledge and self-improvement
- Creates and maintains an active classroom management plan
- Develops, improves, and maintains an effective classroom discipline plan
- Actively participates in school activities and leadership roles that promote the school and school system
- Works collaboratively with parents, community, colleagues and supervisors
- Maintains an attractive and inviting classroom physical environment
Other Attributes:
- Well-groomed and appropriately dressed
- Ability to physically navigate the school and classroom
- Proper use of acceptable grammar and diction
- Ability to project and modulate voice in a classroom environment with and/or without the use of electronic aides

Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board's policy on Evaluation of Professional Personnel.
