ESS Permanent SPED Paraprofessional

An ESS SPED Paraprofessional provides instructional, behavioral, physical, and personal-care support to students with disabilities in inclusion, resource, and/or self-contained educational settings. Working under the direction and supervision of a certified teacher and school administration, the paraprofessional assists students in accessing instruction, participating in school activities, developing independence, and achieving goals identified in their Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
Some SPED paraprofessional positions may require frequent lifting, transferring, positioning,feeding, mobility assistance, and other personal-care responsibilities.
While applicants may be considered for permanent roles, the District retains full authority to determine permanent placements based on current needs and eligibility.
This is a full-time, 40 hour a week position.
Responsibilities- Assist the special education and general education teachers with the implementation of instructional activities and student supports.
- Provide individual and small-group assistance to students as directed by the supervising teacher.
- Reinforce academic, communication, social, behavioral, functional, and independent-living skills introduced by certified staff.
- Assist students with accessing and participating in the general education curriculum and classroom environment.
- Support accommodations, modifications, assistive technology, visual supports, and other strategies identified by the student's IEP and instructional team.
- Collect or record student performance, behavioral, functional, or other data as directed by the supervising teacher.
- Encourage student independence and provide only the level of assistance necessary for the student to participate safely and successfully.
- Maintain confidentiality regarding students, disabilities, medical information, IEPs, families, employees, and other school matters in accordance with applicable laws and district policies
- Associate's degree preferred or passing GACE Paraprofessional testing
- State/FBI Criminal History Clearance
