Overview

Job Title: Simulation Technician

Department: Simulation Operations (JoAnn Willette)

FLSA: United States of America (Exempt)

Location: Moultrie Campus

The simulation technician performs support activities for Clinical Learning and Assessment Center (CLAC) instruction. Primary duties include setting up, storing, maintaining, and operating simulation equipment, including but not limited to robotic and non-robotic simulators, training models, and virtual simulators.

Responsibilities
  • Assist with ensuring the efficient operation and maintenance of simulation center software and equipment, including but not limited to audiovisual, multimedia, and computer-based technology.
  • Maintain and update department hardware, software, audiovisual, multimedia, and computer-based technology and equipment, as directed.
  • Serve as on-site contact person for issues or instruction related to simulation technology used in the department; operate equipment during sessions, labs, and lectures.
  • Assist with performing regular and ad hoc equipment inspections and testing to ensure proper functioning; maintain detailed log of technical issues and resolution; interact with vendors, as needed, to resolve equipment issues.
  • Assist with creating multimedia content, including videos and photos, to support simulation instruction; perform backup procedures for all data and video recordings in accordance with the institution's records retention policy.
  • Perform accurate and timely data entry into department databases. Such data includes, but is not limited to, user data, attendance, materials, scoring results, training history, case records, assessment tools, and standardized patient-related information.
  • Assist with the coordination and implementation of simulation learning activities, including preparing and distributing checklists, door charts, student and standardized patient schedules, supplies, and equipment.
  • Perform other role-related duties as assigned or requested.
Position Requirements Education
  • High School Diploma required. Associate's degree in a technical field;
    Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Certification in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) from the American Heart Association (AHA) is required within 1 month.
  • Certification from the Society of Simulation in Healthcare as a Simulation Operations Specialist (CHSOS) is preferred within one year.
  • Clinical healthcare background preferred (i.e. med tech, CNA, EMT, paramedic, LPN, RN).
Experience
  • Minimum of two years' experience in the following areas:
  • Technical support role, including audiovisual and multimedia equipment and LMS databases related to healthcare simulation (i.e. Sim Capture, SimIQ, Sim Station, etc.).
  • Audiovisual capabilities, including microphones, speakers, cameras, lighting, drones, and video editing software knowledge.
  • Information technology, including computer hardware/software troubleshooting and network connectivity.
  • Operation and maintenance of high-fidelity simulators and other medical education technologies.
  • Inventory tracking for simulation equipment, supplies, and medical devices.
  • Troubleshooting and technical support during live simulation sessions, ensuring smooth operations under time-sensitive conditions.
  • Strong understanding of healthcare simulation environments and proper handling of equipment and supplies.
  • Computer-aided design (CAD), 3D printing, and fabrication for simulation development and equipment repair (preferred).
Required Skills
  • Ability to stand or sit for prolonged periods, up to eight hours per day.
  • Frequent bending, stooping, kneeling, and reaching.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to view computer screens for extended periods, up to eight hours per day.
  • Manual dexterity and mobility in order to use personal computers and other office equipment.

Starting Salary: $45,000.00 annually

Compensation will be commensurate with the candidate's experience, education, and the responsibilities of the role.

The referenced salary range is based on PCOM good faith belief at the time of posting.
