Industrial Lumber Sales is seeking a reliable, safety-focused Truck Driver to operate a Class A tractor-trailer on local delivery routes. This is a home-daily position – no overnight or extended over-the-road travel is required. The driver will be responsible for the safe transport, loading, securement, and delivery of product to customer sites within the local service area, while maintaining full compliance with DOT and company safety regulations.
Key Responsibilities- Safely operate a Class A tractor-trailer on assigned local routes, returning to the terminal/yard at the end of each shift.
- Load, secure, and unload freight using proper securement equipment (straps, chains, load binders, tarps) in accordance with DOT and company standards.
- Perform pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections and promptly report any mechanical issues or safety concerns.
- Maintain accurate and timely paperwork, including delivery receipts, bills of lading, and electronic logs (ELD).
- Comply with all applicable DOT/FMCSA regulations, including Hours of Service (HOS) rules and drug & alcohol testing requirements.
- Communicate proactively with dispatch regarding route progress, delays, or delivery issues.
- Provide professional, courteous service to customers and job sites during pickups and deliveries.
- Keep the assigned vehicle clean, organized, and in good working order.
- Follow all company safety policies, including proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Valid Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) – no special endorsements required.
- Current DOT medical certification (DOT physical) or ability to obtain one.
- Clean driving record and ability to meet DOT/FMCSA driver qualification standards.
- Ability to pass pre-employment, random, and post-accident DOT drug & alcohol testing.
- Working knowledge of Hours of Service (HOS) regulations and electronic logging devices (ELD).
- [X years] of verifiable tractor-trailer driving experience; flatbed and load-securement experience a plus.
- Ability to safely lift, carry, and secure loads; comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Strong communication skills and a dependable, safety-first attitude.
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- Primarily outdoor work at customer and delivery sites in all weather conditions.
- Frequent lifting, carrying, and securing of materials; may involve climbing on/off trailers and working at height while securing or tarping loads.
- Extended periods of sitting while driving, combined with physical loading/unloading tasks.
This position operates on local routes exclusively. Drivers return home every day – there is no overnight travel, multi-day dispatch, or long-haul over-the-road (OTR) driving required.
