A Day in the LifeThe Principal Equipment Engineer will work onsite 4 days a week and may be located at Mounds View, Minnesota or North Haven, Connecticut
. The role requires up to 50% travel to support cross‑site collaboration.
The primary responsibilities include:
- Driving enterprise‑wide equipment reliability and maintenance excellence across manufacturing operations.
- Establishing best‑practice standards for equipment performance and maintenance strategies.
- Leading deployment of the Enterprise Maintenance Excellence (MEx) roadmap as part of the Medtronic Performance System (MPS) using TPM principles.
- Providing technical expertise to improve equipment uptime, resolve complex issues, and implement preventative and predictive maintenance strategies.
- Leading and developing a high‑performing engineering team responsible for global equipment inventory.
- Collaborating with manufacturing, maintenance, and process engineering teams across multiple sites.
- Working with internal and external experts to strengthen technical capabilities.
- Driving root‑cause analysis and problem‑solving initiatives.
- Building strong cross‑functional relationships in a matrixed organization.
- Ensuring compliance with company policies, procedures, and external standards.
- Generating innovative solutions to engineering and organizational challenges.
- 7+ years of experience with a bachelor’s degree or 5+ years of experience with an advanced degree.
- Experience in equipment or maintenance engineering.
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, electrical, reliability engineering, equipment control, or related discipline.
- 7 years of relevant experience with a bachelor’s degree or 5 years with an advanced degree.
- 5–7 years of direct equipment or maintenance engineering experience.
- Excellent team‑building, communication, and leadership skills.
- 3–5 years of experience applying TPM.
- CMRP or CRL certification.

Benefits & CompensationCompetitive salary range for U.S. locations (excluding Puerto Rico): $128,000 – $192,000. The role is eligible for the Medtronic Incentive Plan (MIP) and a comprehensive benefits package, including health, dental, vision, life, disability, 401(k), stock purchase plan, paid time off, and more.
