As an Electrical Engineer II within Cardiac Ablation Solutions, you will support the design, integration, and execution of catheter‑based electrical systems used in electrophysiology therapies and diagnostics.

Location

Position is based in Mounds View, Minnesota (Minneapolis/St. Paul metro area) and requires 4 days on‑site per week.

Role and Responsibilities
  • Contribute to the design, integration, and testing of catheter‑based electrical systems that safely deliver therapy energy while meeting performance objectives and applicable medical electrical safety and regulatory standards, including IEC 60601.
  • Support the end‑to‑end electrical architecture of catheter systems, from distal electrodes and sensors through connectors and cabling to the mapping system or generator interface.
  • Assist in maintaining signal fidelity for microvolt‑level sensing signals under challenging electromagnetic conditions.
  • Apply grounding, shielding, filtering, and layout best practices to mitigate noise and coupling effects.
  • Support design and integration of flex and rigid‑flex circuits subject to tight size, flexibility, and durability constraints.
  • Contribute to high‑density interconnect and connector system design for catheter applications.
  • Support definition of electrical test requirements, bench testing, troubleshooting, and failure analysis.
  • Collaborate with senior engineers and cross‑functional partners, leveraging strong mentorship within the team.
  • Conduct troubleshooting, debugging, and failure analysis to resolve technical issues.
  • Support risk assessments and implement corrective and preventive actions.
  • Maintain design documentation (BOMs, specifications, drawings) in accordance with quality system requirements.
  • Work with manufacturing teams to support design transfer and resolve production issues.
  • Stay current with advancements in electrical engineering and relevant technologies.
Qualifications

Must Have –

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, physics, or related field.
  • Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience, or advanced degree with 0 years of experience.

Preferred Knowledge and

Experience:

  • Experience in embedded, mixed‑signal circuit design.
  • Exposure to medical devices, especially catheter‑based device design.
  • Understanding of EMC design and test principles.
  • Experience with electrical modeling or simulation tools.
  • Hands‑on experience with rapid prototyping and benchtop feasibility testing.
  • Comfort working across electrical, mechanical, and systems boundaries.
  • Familiarity with Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and Design for Test (DFT) principles.
  • Ability to work independently with general supervision.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • For Baccalaureate degrees earned outside of the United States, a degree that satisfies the requirements of 8 C.F.R. § 214.2(h)(4)(iii)(A) is required.

Benefits & Compensation

Salary ranges for U.S. (excluding Puerto Rico) are $87,200 – $130,800 (USD). This position is eligible for a short‑term incentive called the Medtronic Incentive Plan (MIP).
