Traveling Welder

STS Technical Services is hiring a Traveling Welder based out of Mount Airy, North Carolina, to support metal fabrication and welding operations.

This role is designed for an experienced welder who can interpret blueprints, position and assemble metal components, make accurate measurements and produce quality weldments in flat and vertical positions.

The Traveling Welder will form, position, assemble and weld metal parts and components according to blueprint requirements.

This position requires strong hands-on welding experience, accurate use of measuring devices and the ability to adjust welding equipment to support required weld quality and dimensional accuracy.

• Heat and form metal parts and components using hand tools, torches or welding equipment
• Weld components in flat positions
• Weld components in vertical positions
• Read and operate measuring devices accurately
• Position and assemble metal parts according to blueprint requirements
• Weld metal components as outlined on blueprints
• Operate an overhead crane to maneuver parts safely into position
• Adjust welding equipment to the proper configuration for required weldments
• Maintain accuracy and attention to detail throughout the welding process
• Follow established quality standards
• Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned

• High school diploma or GED
• At least three years of relevant welding experience
• Valid U.S. driver's license
• Ability to read and follow blueprints
• Ability to use measuring devices accurately
• Ability to position and assemble metal components
• Ability to weld in flat and vertical positions
• Ability to operate an overhead crane safely
• Ability to adjust welding equipment for required applications
• Strong attention to detail and quality

Candidates will complete a welding qualification test upon starting the assignment. A passing score is required to remain on contract.
