Requirements

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Current license to practice as a registered nurse in the State of North Carolina
  • Current CPR certification or obtained within three months of employment
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program completion within eighteen months of hire and maintain competency per American Academy of Pediatrics
  • New RN’s will complete Basic Fetal Monitoring Class within six (6) months of hire, or evidence of prior EFM training and Intermediate Fetal Monitoring classes within 18 months of hire.
    * Documentation of accredited training in FHM will be accepted in lieu of completing Basic FHM online or attending class
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • BSN
  • Certification in area of specialty
  • One year experience in OB arena
  • PRN RN complete Neonatal Resuscitation Program within eighteen (18) months of hire and maintain according to American Academy of Pediatrics.
Summary

Responsible and accountable for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating nursing care of assigned patient. Responsible and accountable for supervising and delegating care and tasks to other personnel. Hours of work and length of shift may vary from the established schedule. Patients are assessed and decisions are made about changes in their conditions, verbal, and written reports are made to others on the health care team.

Care is coordinated and documented by the nurse. Uses critical thinking skills to assess, and initiate actions based upon patient needs. Must maintain skills to function in all areas (LDRP, antepartum, post-op, GYN, nursery, and cesarean section OR suite). Possesses strong knowledge base of newborn assessment and able to recognize and report significant changes in newborn status.
