PurposeDelta College has a team of Business Service Representatives placed at the Great Lakes Bay Michigan Works! offices. The Business Service Representative team will work directly with employers and be focused on providing outstanding customer service while promoting services of Great Lakes Bay Michigan Works!
Business Services Specialist RoleTo form relationships with employers in the Great Lakes Bay Region Michigan Works and assist them in a way that makes them more profitable. Primary duty of this role is to serve in a Salesforce capacity by establishing relationships and taking orders with businesses in the Great Lakes Bay Region for the purpose of providing employment and business services. Services are outlined, but not limited to mentioned services below.
The Business Services Specialist will assist with overseeing operations of special business solutions programs throughout the Great Lakes Bay Michigan Works! service region. This position involves providing guidance and support to the Business Services Team to ensure efficient and effective coordination of services to maximize service to employers and maximize performance outcomes.
Individuals serving in this role are expected to spend the majority of their work day out in the business community and away from the service centers of Great Lakes Bay Michigan Works! serving as a primary liaison between Great Lakes Bay Michigan Works! and employers. This individual's main office will be located at the Midland GLBMW Service Center.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO THE FOLLOWING:Sales
- Provide consultation and provide information to employers regarding all services available
- Conduct presentations/public speaking at events and meetings as assigned
- Develop contacts through initial (prospecting) visits to businesses that do not currently use GLBMW! services.
- Communicate services of other partners to businesses
- Take orders and sell services effectively and handle objections
- Develop and update Recruitment Resource Package
- Develop relationships with Michigan Works! partners to foster referral relationships for Business Services division of GLBMW
- Maintain awareness of local business expansions, hiring, and economic trends
- Conduct outreach to employers through attendance and or presentations at job/career
- Attend business events (i.e. Chamber Meetings, VSHRM, Job/Business fairs, Economic Development meetings)
- Develop employer relationships to lead to repeat business and referrals
- Maintain accurate and timely records of employer outreach and activities in Customer Relationship Management system
- Communicate/market employer training grant funding opportunities to eligible businesses fairs, business/agency/civic events, and individual business visits
- Maintain professional and effective working relationships with local and regional business and community organizations
- Coordinate the activities of varied and complex projects including outreach, eligibility requirements, service delivery procedures/processes, referral to services and follow up
- Assist with the development and implementation of systems and procedures to ensure efficient utilization of resources and achievement of objectives in accordance with grant and contract requirements
- Develop and conduct information sessions and provide technical assistance on assigned programs to promote specialized programs for employers throughout the region
- Provide staff support to GLBMW! Administration; coordinate the preparation of materials required for review and action; prepare, present, and explain reports and recommendations along with background information
