In this role, you will lead large-scale automation projects that integrate robotics into manufacturing and warehouse workflows. You'll design, implement, and optimize robotic systems to ensure efficiency, safety, and performance, while collaborating with cross‑functional teams and external partners to deliver innovative solutions.
From concept through integration, you'll provide technical leadership and hands‑on support during system deployment. Additionally, you will develop RFPs, define system requirements, oversee vendor solutions, and drive continuous improvement through time studies, industrial engineering tasks, and system performance analysis.
Location: Mason, MI
Travel: Up to 50% (with flexibility for home time)
- Manage and prioritize large‑scale automation projects from start to finish.
- Lead and coordinate work with engineers, technicians, designers, and vendors.
- Analyze warehouse workflows and design robotic solutions for material handling, picking, packing, and sorting.
- Integrate robotics systems with WMS and ERP platforms.
- Conduct time studies and establish KPIs for robotic performance and throughput.
- Provide technical expertise for installation, commissioning, and maintenance of robotic systems.
- Diagnose and resolve hardware/software issues related to robotics and automation equipment.
- Develop and deliver technical training for warehouse personnel on robotic systems.
- Collaborate with operations, IT, vendors, and engineering teams to build business cases and ensure seamless deployment.
- Create and document standards for robotic automation.
- Manage project timelines, budgets, and vendor relationships.
- Requires one of the following:
- Bachelor's degree with an emphasis in robotics engineering, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, mechatronics, computer science, or related field of study and six (6) years of related engineering experience.
- Associate's degree and twelve (12) years of related engineering experience.
- Proven experience and success in implementing robotics systems or warehouse automation (including industrial robots and cobots).
- Hands‑on experience with robotic systems, AGVs (Automated Guided Vehicles), AMRs (Autonomous Mobile Robots), and PLC programming.
- Advanced knowledge of robotics programming languages (e.g., ROS, Python, C++) and industrial communication protocols (Ethernet/IP, Modbus, OPC‑UA). Experience with WMS and ERP integration.
- Experience with safety standards for industrial robotics (ISO 10218, ANSI/RIA).
- Demonstrated success applying financial stewardship.
- Use logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems.
- Ability to successfully prioritize and manage large, complex projects, deadlines, and tasks with little supervision in both team and independent environments.
- Strong verbal and written skills necessary to communicate intricate job‑related information.
- Bachelor's degree.
- Robotics Certification (e.g., FANUC, ABB, KUKA).
