JOB DESCRIPTION

JOB SUMMARY

Support the Assistant Quality Manager in all duties, including the leadership of all salary and hourly quality members, as well as the quality processes for the location and customer issues.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Represent the quality function on technical support, in conjunction with other internal support groups, regarding issues affecting manufacturing;
  • Helps initiate and approve supplier/customer production/process control activities and reviews for implementation and effectiveness;
  • Guides quality control sampling system, procedures, APQP, PPAP, and IMDS activities;
  • Assist in managing, auditing, and continuously improving IATF/ISO systems and procedures;
  • Direct Customer and Supplier liaisons for plant quality activities and concerns, including scheduled visits;
  • Help establish and maintain all quality documents, samples, customer contact, supplier development, production start-up, product launch, and correction of production variances and warranty analysis;
  • Assists in setting standards for determining non-conforming materials and scrap review;
  • Follows up and responds to customer concerns with regard to quality;
  • Plans and coordinates PPAP documentation and submissions;
  • Assists with PFMEAs and APQP activities;
  • Assists in the development of standardized work processes and process improvements;
  • Assists in the implementation of ISO and IATF initiatives;
  • Other activities related to the scope of the position.
  • EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
  • BS:
    Engineering, Industrial Technology, or other technical discipline plus 2 years of quality experience in a stamping/robotic assembly environment;
  • OR, AS:
    Engineering Technology plus 3 years of experience in a stamping/robotic assembly environment;
  • OR, 6+ years of experience and training in a similar role and environment.
  • The Quality Engineer will implement, support, and maintain the manufacturing quality systems to ensure quality products are received from suppliers and parts are delivered on-time to the customer with the highest quality standards. The Quality Engineer will perform audits to ensure conformance to established quality systems, and will develop suppliers to ensure a high quality incoming product.

    Duties/Responsibilities:
  • Work with Engineering and Operations to develop FMEA’s, control plans, flow diagrams, part history records, inspection instructions, standardized work instructions, and other necessary documentation or systems related to Quality;
  • Manage APQP and new product/ Engineering changes leading to effectively PPAP new product or engineering changes to customers;
  • Maintain access to customer portals, obtain and communicate customer specifications;
  • Develop and analyze statistical data and process output with a goal of continuous improvement;
  • Develop statistical analysis and prepare reports/studies as needed;
  • Train and instruct team members on the use of statistical process control and assist operations in charting and interpretation of data;
  • Train and instruct team members in the proper use of quality systems and best practices;
  • Initiate and lead root cause analysis and problem solving efforts with applicable team members;
  • Lead problem definition and resolution activities for customers;
  • Perform audits of quality documentation, processes, and production systems;
  • Assist suppliers with development of process control, capability, and continuous improvement;
  • Create reports and presentations in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint;
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment, employing 5S principles;
  • Lead internal and external certification audits and customer audits, supporting site initiatives towards achieving and maintaining customer awards as well as quality and environmental certifications (IATF, TS, ISO);
  • Adhere to Team Handbook, Quality, Safety, and Environmental standards, policies, and procedures;
  • Perform additional tasks as deemed necessary and appropriate.
  • Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in Quality or related field, or a combination of education and applicable work-related experience
  • Minimum of two (2) years of job related work experience in a manufacturing facility, preferably for an automotive OEM supplier
  • Experience with metal stamping, weld assembly, and/or E-coat paint processes strongly preferred.

  • In-depth knowledge of GD&T, CMM data, and TS/ISO
  • Ability to communicate with customers and internal teams in a professional and knowledgeable manner;
  • Strong knowledge in the use of measuring equipment for related analysis and testing;
  • High level of critical thinking and analytical skills to perform complex problem solving;
  • Strong organizational and computer skills;
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings;
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills;
  • Desire to work in a team-based, lean-manufacturing environment;
  • Willingness to travel for training, and as other business needs may dictate
