Our client, a structural engineering and manufacturing company, is seeking a Project Engineer to join their West Michigan team. This role is ideal for an early-career structural engineer or EIT looking for hands-on design experience with professional development support and a defined path toward licensure. You’ll work directly under a licensed Professional Engineer who will mentor and review your work as you contribute to the design, analysis, and pricing of engineered-to-order structural steel projects for a variety of commercial and municipal applications.
Unlike traditional consulting roles, you’ll see your designs move from calculation to fabrication to installation – collaborating closely with welders, CAD designers, and architects. This end-to-end exposure creates a faster feedback loop and accelerates technical growth while building a strong understanding of how structural steel designs perform in the real world. This is a great opportunity to join a growing organization that values professional development, innovation, collaboration, and hands-on problem solving.
- Perform preliminary structural calculations for projects under the supervision of a licensed PE
- Aid in proposal review ensuring compliance with plans, specifications, and engineering standards
- Research, plan and design structural solutions for a range of projects
- Assist with the preparation of structural drawings and data
- Create structural models using engineering analysis software
- Measure loads and pressures caused by environmental or human influence on structural systems
- Track and report on project progress
- Communicate with internal and external resources on all projects
- Contribute to continuous improvement of internal engineering and production processes
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering required
- Structural design/engineering experience or internships/co-ops required
- Proficient with structural analysis software required
