- Collaborate and cooperate with care team members to ensure consistency and quality of care and promote productive employee relations among staff members.
- Perform a variety of basic patient care activities under the direction of a registered nurse; report changes in patient medical and/or emotional condition to the registered nurse.
- Assist patient in activities of daily living by feeding, bathing, toileting and other personal hygiene regimes.
- Follow all departmental policies, procedures and objectives; continuous improvement initiatives; safety environmental and infection control standards.
- Demonstrate sensitivity to patient comfort and privacy; answer questions from patients and families and explain procedures and processes within the scope of training/abilities; maintain confidentiality.
- Perform general clerical duties such as answering telephones and call lights, greeting patients and visitors.
- Enhance personal growth through participation in workshops, educational programs, in-service meetings and reviewing current literature.
- Perform other tasks as assigned.
- High school diploma or GED.
- Graduation from a school of practical nursing OR
- Completion of one of the following:
- A Certified PCA/PCT Program.
- A Certified Nurse Assistant Program or equivalent training.
- A Medical Assistant Program.
- An EMT program.
- A phlebotomy training program. With six (6) months direct patient care experience, preferred.
