Location: Mt Clemens

McLaren operates Michigan’s largest network of cancer centers and providers, anchored by the Karmanos Cancer Institute, one of only 53 National Cancer Institute-designated comprehensive cancer centers in the U.S.

Provides overall technical direction and administration to personnel in lab section, ensuring system of laboratory testing operates efficiently and effectively. Regularly reviews and revises, as necessary, laboratory standards and ensures diagnostic procedures for section performed comply with all system and regulatory agency standards. Coordinates provision of laboratory section services and serves as technical resource for departmental personnel. Meets and consults with director of laboratory section for policies, procedures, forms, instrumentation, equipment, supplies, and LIS.

Responsibilities

Plans and administers directly, and through subordinate supervisory personnel, the effective management and delivery of diagnostic laboratory section procedures in accordance with all system and regulatory agency standards.

Ensures quality, financial, and customer service objectives are met.

Develops, secures approval of and administers capital and operating budgets in order to meet agreed-upon departmental goals and objectives. Develops and implements appropriate methods to monitor adherence to budgets and resolve variances.

Required

Bachelor’s degree in medical technology or related fields.

BS, HT, HTL, MT, or CT (ASCP).

Four years of experience in related discipline.

Two years of supervisory or managerial experience.

Preferred Qualifications

Master’s degree in medical technology, business administration or health services administration
