Overview
Summary Looking to join a dynamic physics team in a growing center? The Karmanos Cancer Institute at McLaren Macomb is hiring. The position is open to all career levels with compensation based on experience, so this would be a terrific opportunity for either a current resident looking for a first post-residency position, or an experienced physicist looking to advance their career.
This position is part of a core team of 3 physicists responsible for activities in the Macomb, Clarkston, and Port Huron centers, with additional support from the Karmanos Network Physics team.
The Team The successful candidate will join a local team of 2 other physicists, 3 dosimetrists, and 4 physicians providing care for cancer patients across these 3 centers. The Karmanos Cancer Network comprises 10 cancer centers spread throughout Michigan. The physics team, consisting of 12 physicists and 2 physics residents, collaborates closely in all areas of patient care, technical duties, and quality/system improvement projects.
The new team member will have immediate opportunities to make significant contributions across the spectrum of physics activities.
The centers have three Varian True Beams and 1 Varian Trilogy, 3 CT Simulators (1 Philips Big Bore, 2 GE Light Speed), 1 Elekta Flexitron HDR, and 1 Varian Bravos HDR unit. Advanced technologies such as SGRT (Identify/Vision
RT), Hyper Arc, gating, 4
DCBCT, etc., are available. We offer a broad range of treatments to our patients including SRS/SBRT, respiratory gating, and brachytherapy. All centers throughout the Karmanos Cancer Network utilize cloud hosted Eclipse treatment planning and Aria record and verify on a common system that is supported by a dedicated IT and administration team.
- Acceptance and commissioning of LINAC
- Implementation of clinical stereotactic program
- Radiation therapy equipment calibration, quality assurance
- Collaboration with clinical and medical staff on simulation and treatment planning
- Provide ongoing oversight of quality and safety of patient treatment delivery
- Participation in department quality assurance and continuous quality improvement programs
- Participation in clinical research efforts
- Collaboration in network physics initiatives
- Master’s or PhD degree in medical physics or related discipline.
- Board Certified or eligible for certification in therapeutic medical physics from American Board of Radiology (A ) or equivalent certification
- Two or more years of prior work experience as a Medical Physicist or Medical Physics Resident in full-service radiation therapy center.
