Stamping Press Operator

About the RoleThe Stamping Press Operator will operate and tend to machines such as automatic stamping presses, single‑hit presses, and rotary deburring machines with a goal of zero defects. The position may require overtime to include weekends and regular attendance at work is required.
Responsibilities- Read job specifications, part prints, operator instructions, and SPC control charts to determine machine adjustments and material requirements.
- Position work pieces against stops or align layout marks with dies or blades.
- Activate machines by pressing buttons or depress pedals.
- Observe machine operation to detect workpiece defects or machine malfunctions.
- Complete statistical process control (SPC) charts using micrometers, calipers, and tape measures to check parts.
- Shut down operation if the process varies outside of SPC control limits and notify team leaders or quality assurance personnel.
- Remove burrs, sharp edges, rust, or scale from work pieces.
- Perform minor machine maintenance such as oiling machines, dies, or work pieces.
- Comply with all safety procedures per the Company Safety Manual and use machine safety devices; shut down machinery and do not operate if the job is unsafe.
- Accurately complete all shop floor paperwork including production release, routing sheets, container identification labels, and timesheets.
- Communicate with material handlers, set‑up personnel, and leads to ensure availability of proper tools and materials.
- Participate in continuous improvement activities and work in a team environment.
- Assist secondary press operators, stack parts, make boxes, perform quality checks, or help in any other way that improves production when operating an automatic press.
- Work in other areas of the plant based on production requirements, and may be required to work off shifts as needed.
- High school diploma or equivalent with at least two (2) years of machine and/or stamping press operation experience.
- Working knowledge of statistical process control and ability to read blueprints.
- Ability to read a limited number of two‑ and three‑syllable words and recognize similarities and differences between words and numbers.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals; ability to draw and interpret bar graphs.
- Ability to apply common sense to carry out detailed written or oral instructions and to solve problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
- Training in and adherence to Company safety policies and participation in Continuous Improvement and Corrective Action programs.
- Use hands to finger, handle, or feel; stand frequently; walk, sit, reach with hands and arms, and talk or hear.
- Lift and/or move up to 10 pounds regularly.
- Requires vision for close, distance, and color vision.
- Regular exposure to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, and loud noise levels.
