Salary: $24 Hourly (Plus $1.89 Shift Differential)

Operations Technical Support Technician reports and adjusts Key Adjustable Tests (KATs) to achieve Ok-To-Fill (OTF) status for production batches and provides support to the Chemists / Engineers in the manufacturing process of OEM coating products.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES- Safely load, test, filter, and transport small batch materials in a lab environment
- Prep samples and label substrates
- Adjust production for color by following the best practice process
- Understand the hazards inherent to the process and area, adhere to all safety policies
- Test / Analyze
- Accurately run and record wet properties (wet color, pH & viscosity) and film build
- Calculate necessary pH & viscosity adjustments for production batches
- Determine OTF status when KATs are in spec
- Assist Chemists with customers requested color direction
- Assist in problem-solving of customer and production issues using appropriate methodology (i.e.5Y)
- Spray
- Set up, spray and evaluate Tank Wagon and Sub-Material Crater checks
- Spray production batches for color and collect color data
- Interpret and communicate test/color/spray out results
- Load and spray pilot work
- Maintain color vectors
- Create CCD dry plate standard
- Assist Chemists with formula-centering activities using Fit for Real Time Release (RTR) reporting and technology
- Maintain, repair and operate a variety of conventional and electrostatic application equipment
- High school diploma required. Bachelor's degree preferred
- Ability to handle multiple tasks under strict time constraints
- Ability to interact and communicate effectively with coworkers and Management in Operations, R&D and Marketing functions in a team environment
- Experience in operating color instrumentation such as X-Rite, ByK-Mac, ByK-MacI, AxCS
- Experience in running and recording test results using computer-based system Tips Rx, TipsQA, Vector selector and SAP
- Proficient in computer-based programs such as Word, Excel and Power Point
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions
- Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instruction in mathematical or diagram form
- Written and oral communication skills
- Willingness to train & develop other technicians
- Flexibility in work hours required to meet business needs; including weekend overtime
- Perform all work in a safe manner and in accordance to all lab and plant safety regulations
- Occasional lifting of up to 50 pounds
