Position Summary:
Under the direction and supervision of a Registered Nurse, performs the receptionist and secretarial duties on the unit assigned and meets the communication needs of the patient, family, departmental staff and medical staff. Supports the nursing staff by performing specific patient care duties to meet safety and comfort needs of the patient. Assist and maintain a safe and clean work environment.
Maintains patient privacy, dignity, confidentiality, and respects patient's rights. Department: 3 South Scheduled Bi-Weekly

Supports the nursing staff by performing specific patient care duties to meet safety and comfort needs of the patient. Assist and maintain a safe and clean work environment.
Maintains patient privacy, dignity, confidentiality, and respects patient's rights. Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
- Performs purposeful hourly rounding including:
Pain, Position, Personal needs, and Possessions - Promptly answers telephone/call lights in a polite manner and relaying pertinent information to the appropriate staff
- Assists nursing staff with patient care by making patient beds, giving baths, passing waters, feeding patients, providing oral care, accurate Intake & Output, assisting with mobilization/ambulation, daily weights, performing bedside glucose testing and obtaining vital signs and any other duties assigned by the RN
- Greets patient/family upon arrival to the nursing unit and assists in the transportation of patients to and from other units and test areas
- Ensures all rooms and work areas are clean and tidy (e.g. patient rooms, clean utility, and soiled utility), IV poles, suction machines, commodes, and other equipment are cleaned and properly stored
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Successful completion of a Nurse Aide training program,OR 6 months experience as a Nursing Assistant in a Healthcare facility, OR completion of fundamentals of nursing, if enrolled in a Nursing program
- BLS certification from American Heart Association (AHA), American ed Cross (ARC), or Canadian equivalent, is required before start date and valid at least 60 days beyond start date
- Current State of Michigan CNA certification
- Previous data entry experience
Selected candidate will be required to work weekends 1 & 3 of the 28-day schedule, as well as the Holiday A rotation. Additional Information
