Sales Engineer – Power Systems Protection (Eastern U.S.)

Salary: $90,000-$125,000 (Depending on experience)
Crossley Scott has been engaged by an established provider of advanced power system protection and monitoring technologies who is seeking an experienced Sales Engineer to join a growing global sales team.
This role is ideal for a technically strong sales professional who thrives at the intersection of power system protection, customer relationships, and strategic market growth

Reporting to the Regional Sales Manager
, you will take ownership of select markets within the Eastern United States
, driving growth through trusted relationships with utilities, consultants, and channel partners
. You will support customers who rely on highly reliable, mission‑critical power systems
, promoting advanced protection relays and digital fault recording solutions
.
This is a remote role with up to 50% travel
. Candidates based in Michigan are preferred
, though applicants located elsewhere within the Eastern territory will also be considered.
- Work with specialized, high‑impact power protection technology
- Partner directly with utilities and power system experts
- Operate with autonomy and regional ownership
- Collaborate with experienced engineering and technical services teams
- Be part of an organization recognized for technical depth, reliability, and strong customer partnerships
Working closely with the Regional Sales Manager
, you will:
- Identify and develop target markets and key customers within the territory
- Grow and manage a strong customer base to meet and exceed sales targets
- Develop and execute regional sales strategies and action plans
- Conduct competitive analysis to identify market opportunities
- Build and maintain relationships with channel partners and industry influencers
- Serve as a trusted technical advisor
, explaining how protection relays and digital fault recorders integrate into utility‑scale systems - Promote solutions through customer visits, demonstrations, training sessions, and technical discussions
- Collaborate with technical services teams to support customers with demonstrations and presentations
- Support proposal development and technical sales presentations
Represent the company at trade shows and industry events - Coordinate projects for assigned customer engagements
- Deliver work on schedule, within budget, and to a high standard of quality
The ideal candidate brings technical credibility combined with sales expertise
, including:
- 3+ years of experience in power system protection sales
- Established relationships with utilities and industry stakeholders in the Eastern U.S.
- Experience with protective relays and digital fault recorders (strongly preferred)
- Strong technical aptitude and ability to explain complex power system technologies clearly
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent industry experience
- Experience with consulting or engineering firms in the power sector (an asset)
- Solid understanding of electric power systems and utility practices
- Excellent communication, presentation, and technical writing skills
- Strong time management, organization, and self‑direction
- Comfortable working independently in a remote, travel‑based role
- Legally authorized to work in the United States (sponsorship unavailable)
- Successful completion of background check and drug test
