Judge's Secretary 1
The New Jersey Judiciary, Burlington Vicinage, is seeking a highly organized, detail-oriented professional to serve as a Judge's Secretary 1 to a Superior Court Judge in the Family Division. The selected candidate will have a key role in supporting the efficient operation of chambers by preparing and proofreading court orders and legal documents, managing the judge's schedule and workflow, coordinating communications with attorneys, court staff, and the public, and maintaining accurate court records.
Salary:
The salary range for this position is $50,776.88 to $75,758.39 for Schedule A, and $50,776.88 to $71,970.45 for Schedule
B. For newly hired individuals, the starting salary will normally be at the minimum of the salary range. For current Judiciary employees, salary upon promotion or advancement will be an increase of 5% of base salary, not to exceed the maximum of the range, or the minimum salary of the band/level, whichever is greater.

Example Of Duties- Transcribe dictation and prepare, proofread, and distribute judges' orders and decisions.
- Compose and type routine and non-routine correspondence, including contracts, legal documents, form letters, and standard replies to inquiries.
- Coordinate and communicate the judge's schedule with division administration and case management personnel.
- Prepare, file and submit records and written documents.
- Manage incoming and outgoing communications and workflow, including mail, telephone calls, conference calls, and inquiries from attorneys, staff, and the public.
- Operate a computer terminal or personal computer to enter data into Judiciary-wide systems.
- Moderate virtual court events.
- Regulate the flow of work in accordance with operating schedules.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Regular and predictable physical presence at the worksite is an essential function of this position.
QualificationsThree (3) years of experience in an office environment performing a variety of clerical and support services to include keyboarding and one or more of the following: preparing and analyzing legal documents, processing legal or other documents, transcribing information, and scheduling meetings or appointments. Substitution:
Successful completion of a clerical training program with a minimum of 700 classroom training hours or 30 semester hour credits in secretarial science may be substituted for one (1) year of experience indicated above. Course work must include typing skills, methods, and procedures; other courses may include, but are not limited to, office procedures, word processing, and business English. Ability to use a keyboard, no minimum speed.

Knowledge of legal terminology and working knowledge of Microsoft Office is helpful.
