Position Summary

The Lead PGO Generation Services Consultant serves as the PGO‑RRE liaison for fleet wide RRE generation facilities, supporting all PGO‑RRE leadership with duties that ensure Duke Energy’s Generation relays remain NERC compliant. The role is a crucial point of contact between RRE and PGO, representing all relay testing and scheduling matters, organizing and facilitating meetings, and maintaining safety, regulatory compliance, schedule, configuration management, and plant integration.

Key responsibilities include operating within a highly regulated environment that incorporates NERC compliance, managing SharePoint sites for relay information, and supporting multiple RRE Generation facilities across NC/SC with occasional overnight travel.

The position also requires financial and accounting knowledge to advise leadership and serve as the single point of contact for procurement of resources and specialized parts, with a strong understanding of Maximo PRs and POs.

Responsibilities
  • Works across RRE and PGO boundaries through written and verbal communication while fostering open communications between both organizations.
  • Track and exchange all NERC PRC‑005 information through use of SFTP; schedule all required testing and engage necessary resources.
  • Package PRC‑005 testing data and file in the designated repository.
  • Create new NERC PMs in Maximo for new builds and modifications/upgrades.
  • Facilitate collaborative meetings with RRE and PGO organizations to coordinate and execute the interface agreement and operating guidelines.
  • Develop positive working relationships with RRE/COSO and PGO using effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Superior verbal and written communications skills with ability to interact with both PGO and RRE leadership.
  • Convey complex NERC information clearly and concisely at different levels of RRE and PGO organization.
  • Track all aspects of the RRE NERC relay maintenance programs, from objectives and tasks to resources and deadlines.
  • Ensure business goals and objectives are accomplished through effective communication and work monitoring.
  • Recommend improvements to ensure program is carried out effectively and within budget.
  • Assist in developing outage work plans to reduce inefficiencies for the entire RRE organization regarding NERC relay testing.
  • Support PGO and contract teams operating within RRE plant boundaries, while exercising broad knowledge of both RRE/COSO and PGO expectations including work/activities inside RRE protected areas.
  • Ensure relay testing and work activities are compliant to federal and state regulatory agencies such as FERC and NERC.
  • Understanding of policies and procedures for regulatory requirements (NERC PRC‑005 program).
  • Support both RRE and PGO performers with PGO/RRE work methods, procedures, practices, and in compliance with design and construction standards.
Required and Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Technology or another related degree.
  • Seven (7) or more years of related work experience.
  • OR high school/GED and ten (10) or more years of related work experience.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Three (3) years of power plant experience.
  • Five (5) years of resource scheduling experience.
  • Multi‑site experience for Duke Energy, Gas, Hydro, Coal, Solar, and Battery Storage.
  • Maintain and confirm vendor laptop testing software.
  • Ability to assess and evaluate workers and ensure NERC compliance.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead a team toward a positive safety culture, including working knowledge of OSHA and Safe Work Practice standards.
  • Proven track record of taking ownership and accountability for own actions and those of the assigned teams.
  • Proven track record of working collaboratively with external contractors and other organizations.
  • Experience with station group interfaces required (Operations, Maintenance, Work Control, EHS, Site Services, Supply Chain).
  • Ability to work with suppliers, vendors, contingent resources and plant personnel to facilitate common goals for success.
