Residential HVAC Field Service Specialist

Step into a day as our Residential HVAC Field Service Specialist

You roll up to your first home, greet the customer, slip on protective shoe covers, and get to work restoring comfort. You diagnose, repair, and fine-tune residential heating and cooling systems, keep dispatch informed, and leave each space cleaner than you found it. Between calls, you coordinate with the office, order any parts needed for tomorrow, and document your work on a tablet—closing out the day with a quick debrief and a spotless service vehicle.

• Service, maintain, and repair residential heating, cooling, and ventilation equipment.
• Inspect ductwork and ensure company tools/materials remain in safe, serviceable condition.
• Identify, wire, and commission complete residential HVAC systems.
• Diagnose faults, recommend solutions, and complete repairs to restore proper operation.
• Perform start-ups, conduct tests, and record results to verify performance when needed.
• Complete system checkups and communicate outstanding concerns to dispatch and/or the customer.
• Clearly explain services performed and recommendations to the customer and dispatch.
• Coordinate day‑to‑day scheduling with the office team.
• Plan ahead: order and stage required parts so each appointment starts prepared.
• Transport parts, materials, and tools to job sites; track and account for assigned inventory.
• Complete all digital/paperwork accurately and on time.
• Debrief each service call with dispatch/customer with appropriate documentation.
• Leave work areas clean and orderly after each job.
• Maintain a clean, organized company vehicle—inside and out.
• Uphold company performance standards and code of ethics.
• Maintain a courteous, professional demeanor with customers and teammates.
• Wear protective shoe covers while working inside customer homes.
• Follow all safety policies and procedures.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

• High school diploma or GED.
• 1+ year of HVAC service experience.
• EPA certification.
• Soldering/brazing skills.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
• Basic computer literacy; able to use a computer, laptop, or tablet.
• Comfort with internet navigation and email platforms (e.g., Microsoft Outlook).
• Valid driver’s license.
• Ability to work overtime on short notice; occasional weekend work.

• HVAC trade school certification.
• 1–2 years of experience in construction, HVAC, or related fields.

• Eager to learn and contribute as part of a team.
• Positive attitude and collaborative spirit at all levels of the organization.
• Able to build strong relationships with internal and external customers.
• Relevant hands‑on experience may substitute for formal education.
• Safety‑first mindset and commitment to a strong safety culture.

Most work occurs in occupied homes and/or active construction sites; minimal time in an office.

Drive to and from job locations.

Regular exposure to construction environments: equipment, elevated areas, confined spaces, noise, dust, hazardous materials, and odors.

Work indoors and outdoors in all weather (heat, rain, cold, wind) while wearing required PPE.

Physical demands

Operate a motorized passenger vehicle or forklift.

Frequently lift and move up to 50 pounds.

Regularly climb; bend at the waist; crawl; kneel; and crouch.

Work at heights; climb ladders and stairs; occasionally work on platforms/scaffolding using required fall protection.

Wear PPE including hard hat, safety glasses, ear protection, masks/respirators, high-visibility vests, gloves, and safety‑toe construction boots.

Capable of extended periods of standing, walking, or sitting.

Hear, understand, and distinguish speech and other sounds to safely operate phones/equipment.

With natural or corrected vision, see and focus at near and far distances with peripheral vision and normal depth perception.

Communicate verbally to convey information to others.

Enter data into handheld devices/computers using a keyboard or 10‑key keypad.

Use arms/hands to reach overhead; signal; grasp; hold; lift; turn; push; and pull tools and materials.
