Our Mt. Olive, NJ field office is seeking a motivated and skilled Environmental Specialist/GIS Technician to join our team. This position offers a dynamic work environment where you will collaborate on a variety of stormwater management projects, balancing both office-based tasks and independent fieldwork. The ideal candidate will possess a blend of technical expertise, problem-solving abilities, and a proactive approach to environmental compliance.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct inspections of stormwater systems and drainage structures, ensuring compliance with relevant environmental regulations and standards.
- Perform fieldwork to support environmental projects, including GIS data collection, monitoring, and site inspections.
- Review and interpret engineering plans, specifications, maps, and CAD drawings related to stormwater and drainage systems.
- Prepare and manage detailed reports, including daily work reports, client inspection reports, and project site records.
- Accurately document field activities and track work quantities throughout project life cycles.
- Manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring adherence to schedules, regulations, and client expectations.
- Communicate effectively with team members, clients, and contractors, both in written and verbal formats.
- Utilize mapping and data collection tools such as ArcGIS Pro and GPS systems to enhance project documentation and analysis.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field. (An Associate Degree in Engineering Technology will also be considered.)
- Strong understanding of stormwater systems, drainage, and water-related infrastructure.
- Field Survey Crew Experience or Utility location
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting engineering plans and technical documents.
- Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel locally (within 300 miles of Mt. Olive, NJ in company vehicle) for site inspections.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently in the field.
- Ability to manage site records, logs, and correspondence with attention to detail.
- Knowledge of MS4 permits, soil erosion permits, and multi-state stormwater regulations.
- Familiarity with ArcGIS Pro, Trimble Pathfinder Office, and GPS data collection.
- Basic proficiency with hand tools and field equipment used in environmental inspections.
- Construction inspection experience is a plus.
