Overview
The Mount Pleasant Correctional Facility is a minimum‑custody, male facility that houses approximately 1,150 incarcerated individuals. The goal is to provide treatment, work, education, and apprenticeship opportunities to prepare them for reintegration into Iowa communities.
Responsibilities- Provide dental screening and treatment in accordance with Department of Corrections (DOC) dental services policies and procedures.
- Diagnose and treat diseases, injuries, and malformations of teeth, gums, and related oral structures.
- Perform examinations of incarcerated individuals using diagnostic procedures and instruments.
- Clean, fill, extract, and replace teeth; design and build crowns, bridges, and dental appliances.
- Supervise dental hygienist and other clinic staff; ensure services comply with DOC HSP 1001 Dental Services and HSP 1003 Infection recommendations.
- Document services provided in the individual’s ICON Medical Records.
- Attend statewide health care meetings and facility meetings.
Licensure as a dentist issued by the Board of Dental Examiners of the Iowa Department of Health.
