Job Title
Mount Pleasant Correctional Facility (MPCF) is looking to hire a full-time Journeyman licensed Electrician.
Job DescriptionMount Pleasant Correctional Facilities' mission is Helping People Become Their Best. To accomplish our Mission, the person selected for this position shall be able to demonstrate emotional intelligence, leadership, adaptability and empathy while working with employees, incarcerated individuals and the public.
Journeyman's license is required. Typical responsibilities of an Electrician include: reading and interpreting blueprints/schematics, installing/maintaining high voltage systems, researching needed parts and keeping an accurate inventory, knowledge in installation of conduit, installing/maintaining low voltage systems, using ladders, lifts, and power equipment in a safe manner, maintaining a neat and sanitary work environment, and supervising/training incarcerated individuals while work is being performed.
Preferred characteristics of an Electrician include demonstrating electrical/electronic troubleshooting skills, possessing a keen attention to detail and ability to effectively manage time, being highly organized and responding well in a fast-paced environment, having effective communication skills both written and verbal with a variety of individuals, and having a cooperative, supportive, teamwork mentality.

Within a timeframe determined by the appointing authority, persons in this class may be required to obtain a license to perform electrical work in accordance with Iowa Code Chapter 103. Designated positions in this class require possession of a valid Commercial Learner's Permit upon hire. Within a timeframe determined by the appointing authority, a valid Commercial Driver's License with the required endorsements and applicable restrictions must be obtained and subsequently maintained to continue employment.
