Position Title:

Maintenance Tech Wage: $20.00-$25.00 per hour

Shift: 1st

Hours:

5:00am-5:00pm (Mon-Fri) QPS Employment Group has a great Maintenance Tech position available at a company in Mount Pleasant, IA. This is a 1st shift, direct hire position.

Responsibilities
  • Inspect, diagnose, maintain, and repair heavy equipment and machinery.
  • Perform preventive maintenance services, including lubrication, fluid changes, filter replacement, and component inspections.
  • Troubleshoot hydraulic, mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic systems.
  • Identify equipment deficiencies and complete repairs to minimize downtime.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance and inspection records.
  • Coordinate equipment servicing schedules to ensure operational readiness.
  • Inspect, diagnose, and repair company vehicles and fleet equipment.
  • Perform routine vehicle maintenance, including oil changes, brake service, tire maintenance, battery replacement, and fluid checks.
  • Troubleshoot engine, transmission, electrical, steering, suspension, and cooling system issues.
  • Conduct vehicle safety inspections and ensure compliance with operational standards.
  • Maintain service records and repair documentation.
  • Perform general facility maintenance and repairs to buildings, grounds, and infrastructure.
  • Maintain HVAC, plumbing, lighting, electrical, and mechanical systems.
  • Repair doors, windows, flooring, fixtures, and other building components.
  • Conduct routine inspections to identify maintenance needs and safety concerns.
  • Coordinate facility upkeep to ensure a clean, safe, and functional work environment.
  • Respond promptly to building emergencies and maintenance requests.
  • Inspect, maintain, calibrate, and repair shop tools and equipment.
  • Ensure tools and machinery are operating safely and efficiently.
  • Recommend replacement or repair of damaged or worn equipment.
  • Maintain inventory of tools, supplies, and replacement parts.
  • Organize and maintain shop equipment and work areas.
  • Troubleshoot equipment and facility issues while minimizing operational disruptions.
  • Follow preventive maintenance schedules and maintenance management procedures.
  • Maintain parts inventories and assist with ordering replacement materials and supplies.
  • Read and interpret equipment manuals, blueprints, schematics, and technical documentation.
  • Communicate maintenance concerns, repair status, and recommendations to management.
  • Support operational efficiency through continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
  • Follow all company safety policies, procedures, and maintenance standards.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Technical school, trade certification, or vocational training in mechanics, diesel technology, automotive technology, industrial maintenance, or a related field preferred.
  • Previous experience in heavy equipment maintenance, automotive repair, building maintenance, industrial maintenance, or a related field preferred.
  • Experience performing preventive and corrective maintenance on mechanical and electrical systems preferred.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
  • Knowledge of diesel engines, gasoline engines, hydraulic systems, electrical systems, and powertrain components.
  • Working knowledge of building systems, including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and general facility maintenance.
  • Ability to maintain and repair shop tools, power tools, and maintenance equipment.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and repair instructions.
  • Knowledge of preventive maintenance practices and equipment inspection procedures.
  • Proficiency in the safe use of hand tools, power tools, diagnostic equipment, and shop machinery.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple maintenance tasks and respond to urgent equipment needs.
  • Commitment to safety and compliance with all maintenance and operational procedures.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, climb, and work in various indoor and outdoor environments.
  • Ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds regularly and greater weights with appropriate lifting equipment.
  • Ability to work in varied weather conditions and around mechanical equipment.
  • Ability to use hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment for extended periods.
