INTERNAL/EXTERNAL JOB POSTING The following position is available for the school year.
MT. PLEASANT PUBLIC SCHOOLS
REPORTS TO: Building Principal.
Position: Building High School Counseling Office Secretary MPHS.
CLASSIFICATION: SECRETARY – HIGH SCHOOL COUNSELING OFFICE.
Responsibilities- Serve as point of contact for all counseling office guests and visitors.
- Perform general secretarial duties for the building and building administrator as assigned.
- Operate computer-based programs and software to maintain and update current and accurate records as well as data entry.
- Receive and process High School transcript requests.
- Receive incoming telephone calls and operate telephone system.
- Maintain current and accurate student records including immunization records, collaborate with Central Michigan Health Department.
- Prepare and compose student and/or data reports as necessary.
- Assist with monitoring students and student activity.
- Compose correspondence as necessary.
- Maintain current and up-to-date schedule for the counseling office.
- Maintain accurate counseling office budget and accounts. Ensure accurate use of resources as outlined by Board policies and procedures.
- Obtain and practice continued education of possessing a valid Adult and Child CPR and First-Aid with AED certification.
- Perform such other tasks and assume such other responsibilities as assigned by the building administrator or designee.
- FAFSA Tracking & Support:
Collaborate with the advising team to monitor, track, and support Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) completion rates for graduating seniors. - Post-Secondary Relations:
Serve as the primary point of contact for external partners; coordinate and schedule campus visits from college admissions representatives and military recruiters. - Student Recognition Events:
Lead the planning, coordination, and execution of major academic milestones, specifically the Senior Honors Assembly and the Underclassman Awards Assembly. - New Student Integration:
Facilitate a smooth transition for newly enrolled students by pairing them with student mentors and overseeing peer welcome initiatives.
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Previous employment of specific job-related office experience or post secondary education in a related job field or some combination thereof.
- Working knowledge of computer software and programs including word-processing, data entry and spreadsheets.
- Demonstrated competency in oral and written communication, general accounting and proofreading.
- Successful experience working with student aged individuals.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality, professional tact, diplomacy, and presentation with administrators, students, teachers, parents and the community.
- Current Adult/Child CPR and First-Aid with AED certification or the willingness to obtain certification upon hire.
- Possesses, in the judgment of the administration, personal qualifications to perform secretarial duties including ability to:
- Work with staff and the general public in a professional and appropriate manner.
- Comprehend and maintain detailed and often confidential information.
- Make independent judgments in accordance with school/program procedures and policies.
- Multi-task in a fast-paced, changing office environment, and work with frequent interruptions and changes in assignments.
- Display loyalty and integrity.
- Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.
This is a 210 day (8 hour/day) position with salary and benefits as outlined in the Agreement between the Mt. Pleasant Support Personnel Association and the Mt. Pleasant School District Board of Education.
EVALUATIONPerformance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with the provisions established in the Agreement between the Mt. Pleasant Support Personnel Association and the Mt. Pleasant School District Board of Education.
