Job Overview

The Director of Wellness & Peer Education will provide strategic leadership, oversee and evaluate the Oros Well‑th Scholarship Cohort and the COMPASS (Community, Outreach, Mental Health, Persistence and Student Success) peer education program initiatives. The role involves managing scholarship protocols, developing student‑led wellness programming, and building cross‑campus partnerships to promote student well‑being and academic success.

Responsibilities
  • Lead a student‑centered, inclusive environment for peer educators.
  • Collaborate with the CMU Student Recruitment and Retention division and the Office of Scholarships and Financial Aid to recruit Oros Well‑th Scholars.
  • Advertise and promote the COMPASS Program and manage recruitment and selection of Oros Well‑th Scholars.
  • Support Scholars in program completion and graduation.
  • Develop and implement cross‑campus initiatives focused on wellness, leadership opportunities, and student success.
  • Coordinate and deliver training for all peer educators.
  • Work with the Admissions office to lead national marketing of the Oros Well‑th scholarship cohort.
  • Coordinate disbursement of scholarship funds and communicate award status to recipients.
  • Advise on budgeting, manage program funds, and report on program effectiveness.
  • Oversee COMPASS budget allocation for programs, events, and supplies.
  • Maintain a flexible schedule to accommodate evening and weekend commitments.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in public health, education, social work, psychology, or a related field.
  • University‑level experience developing programs, mentoring students, or overseeing student initiatives.
  • Demonstrated experience in health and wellness program development and promotion.
  • Commitment to inclusivity and community building with students from diverse backgrounds.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and time‑management skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Data‑informed decision‑making ability and adaptability to evolving student needs.
  • Ability to work independently and within a team environment.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in higher education, counseling, social work, or public health.
  • Experience in a peer education program or leadership of a peer education program at the university level.
